Go/Don't Go is a mix of a thriller, sci-fi, and apocalyptic horror film, which was released this month. It features a minimalist cast, as the last man on Earth tries to uncover what or who it is that's attempting to make contact with him.
Alex Knapp handled a multitude of the film's production, serving as director, writer, and producer. The multi-talented Knapp chose to star in the film, making his behind-the-scenes work that much more difficult.
We recently chatted with Alex about the apocalyptic thriller, the ambiguous time period, the supernatural/paranormal elements, and what it was like to take on so many roles on the set of a single film.
You can hear what Alex had to say about the movie in the below audio clip and read this portion of the transcript below.
"I wrote the script, and then, once you have a script, you put your producer hat on, and you are meeting with investors and other producers and other people, and trying to get the project off the ground and building your crew. When that starts to come into place, you are then becoming kind of a producer-director, and you're handpicking people, and you have castings, and you're figuring out how you're going to shoot it. And you put all those pre-production pieces into place.
And then, with this particular project, it just so happened that it made sense from a few different perspectives for me to act in the film as well. There was a period where we were looking at other actors and had our lists, and we're doing that whole thing, but it just ended up being a situation where myself and the other people involved were comfortable with me playing the role. And on set, you're acting and directing, and obviously, that's a challenge in itself because of how much I'm on camera and not behind the camera, but the real trick that I found was surrounding myself with other super talented crew members and people that knew what they were doing."
For those interested in what Knapp has to say, we have also included our earlier with him. Don't forget to check out the trailer and synopsis for Go/Don't Go, and be sure to leave your thoughts in the usual place!
