GOTG's Dave Bautista Will Play 'The Kurgan' In HIGHLANDER Reboot

There can be only one! Word is that former WWE champ turned actor Dave Bautista (Drax in Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy) has signed on to play the villain in Summit Entertainment's reboot of classic sci-fi/fantasy flick, Highlander.

Latino Review's El Mayimbe just dropped another big casting scoop, which will either excite or annoy you depending on how you feel about the planned remake of Highlander! According to him, the breakout star of Guardians Of The Galaxy is set to play another big, imposing, blade wielding savage -- but one that's a lot more evil-disposed than Drax the Destroyer! The Kurgan (aka Vitor) was an immortal barbarian, played brilliantly by Clancy Brown in the original, who first encounters Connor MacLeod on the battlefield in 16th century Scotland, where he discovers his foe is also immortal. The two meet again for their final battle ("the Gathering") in modern-day New York.

The lead role of Connor is yet to be cast, but last we heard Tom Cruise was being courted for the mentor role of Ramirez (Sean Connery in the original). The movie will be helmed by first-time director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan. This is one of the many planned reboots that most fans wish would just disappear, but would Bautista's involvement change things? Sound off below.
