In the film Gravity, Sandra Bullock's character, astronaut Ryan Stone, is pushed to the brink of death, but when she comes into contact with an Inuit fisherman, that doesn't speak English, she founds the strength to give life one more shot. Click on the video below to see this scene from the perspective of the Inuit fisherman (Orto Ignatiussen).

Aningaaq, an Inuit fisherman camping on the ice over a frozen fjord, talks through a two way radio with a dying astronaut who is stranded in space, 500 kilometers above earth. Even though he doesn’t speak English and she doesn’t speak Greenlandic, they manage to have a conversation about dogs, babies, life and death.

Plot Summary: Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone--tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth...and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

GRAVITY was directed By Alfonso Cuarón ("Children Of Men") and the screenplay was written by him, Jonas Cuarón and Rodrigo García. The cast includes: Sandra Bullock as Ryan Stone, George Clooney as Matt Kowalsky and Basher Savage as space station captain. In theaters now!

Gravity was good, but it's strength is not the writing or dialogue, but the spectacle and the "realness" of it. Neil deGrasse Tyson pointed out only a few minor flaws from an astrophysicists' perspective in the film, so it was great to finally get some small idea of what the astronauts and cosmonauts face up there.

But I think it's been overhyped a bit as a movie. Other than the novelty of seeing a space movie done right, I don't think it was particularly strong or out of this world (pun intended).

This really needs a spoiler tag, and removal of anything spoiler-ish in the sub-title: the middle sentence, specifically.
