LOGAN'S RUN: The Complete Series Coming to DVD April 2012

Logan's Run, featured in novels, films and comic books (currently from Bluewater Productions), was also featured in a television series in the 1970s and that complete first season is coming to DVD in April 2012.

In the post-apocalyptic 24th century, the planet has been devastated by nuclear war and surviving communities exist in isolation. Citizens live in total bliss in the City of Domes until their 30th birthday, the date they are lured to an event called Carousel. They believe they might be renewed in a new form but instead they are executed. Not everyone accepts the propaganda and efforts to escape to Sanctuary, located outside of the city, are increasing.

These “Runners” are hunted by Sandmen. Although he’s a Sandman, Logan begins to question if being renewed actually occurs and if the outside is truly uninhabitable. When Logan tries to capture Jessica, she fuels his doubts and he ultimately joins her in an attempt to find Sanctuary. When news spreads of Logan’s rebellion, Logan’s former partner is sent in pursuit of the pair as they make their way through an unfamiliar world.

“We are thrilled to bring another classic TV series to DVD with the much-anticipated release of Logan’s Run: The Complete Series,” said Rosemary Markson, WHV Vice President, TV and Special Interest Marketing. “Clamoring fans have been looking forward to this release, and now they, along with younger generations, can experience this cult favorite once again.”

Logan’s Run: The Complete Series stars Gregory Harrison (Trapper John, M.D.), Heather Menzies (The Sound of Music), Donald Moffat (A Clear and Present Danger) and Randy Powell (Dallas).

I can't wait for Ryan Gosling and Nicholas Winding Refn's version to come out. Yes they are teaming up again for a reboot.

The TV series was really poor. Low budget, weak writing, but don't-think-about-it cheesy fun. I loved the original film - and unusually - it was 100% better than the source novel. I cannot imagine the planned remake will have much interest as the basics of the plot have been done to death - even Minority Report seemed like it had covered most of the bases.

i cant believe there are only about fourteen episodes of this,I watched this religiously as a child on tv.
But it is really just bad tv serial stuff,it might as well be the planet of the apes tv series or any other sci-fi type show...i have the good memories of waiting and watching but that is it,It could have been a re-run of the time machine or anything else....

I think the episode titles are interesting though!

It's funny, but it seems that every science fiction show of the 1970s had this need to put their characters on the road in search of something. It was the same with Logan's Run as it was with The Fantastic Journey, Planet of the Apes, etc.
