The prolific author inspired a number of our most beloved writers, creators and thinkers. Bradbury was a man who many would say spurred humanity to explore space and long ago predicted many of the technological advancements that we enjoy today. Without his writings providing a foundation, there might not be an E.T. or an Aliens. Similarly, there might not be a Guardians of the Galaxy or a Green Lantern Corps. without the Bradbury stories that came before. He's a talent that will truly be missed and should be remembered and celebrated by all those who enjoy the science-fiction genre. Here are some choice words from some of America's most well-known figures about the author, the man and the legend---

President Obama , "His gift for storytelling reshaped our culture and expanded our world. But Ray also understood that our imaginations could be used as a tool for better understanding, a vehicle for change, and an expression of our most cherished values. There is no doubt that Ray will continue to inspire many more generations with his writing."

Neil Gaiman, "[Bradbury’s death] knocked me for a loop,” stated he would have more to say after a little time passes. He did go on to post an essay he wrote that was originally contained in Bradbury’s 'The Machineries of Joy'. “If you want to quote me, you can take anything you like from this, and add that he was kind, and gentle, and always filled with enthusiasm, and that the landscape of the world we live in would have been diminished if we had not had him in our world.

Stephen King, “The sound I hear today is the thunder of a giant's footsteps fading away. But the novels and stories remain, in all their resonance and strange beauty."

Brad Bird, "RIP Ray Bradbury. See you in the future..."

Rainn Wilson, "RIP Ray Bradbury You made Mars, time travel & Illustrated Men more real than reality for a 14 year old me."

Steven Spielberg, "He was my muse for the better part of my sci-fi career. He lives on through his legion of fans. In the world of science fiction and fantasy and imagination he is immortal."

Without him, we wouldn't have "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms", which was one of the influences for Godzilla.

Just have to share this one story that always amazed me about his life. I was always amazed at how he was self taught at such an early age. He quit school at an early age and spent hours learning all he could with the books he surrounded himself with. Growing up and learning this fact about him, always inspired me to keep on reading and inspired me to be as creative as I could. You will be sorely missed, but you will always continue to inspire!!!

"Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you're there." - Ray Bradbury

This is a sad day!
The GREAT BRADBURY has passed from this mortal
coil!

I remember at 14 when I first read SOMETHING WICKED
THIS WAY COMES, RAY BRADBURY painted such a vivid
picture with his words that I was transfixed!
It creeped me the hell out and stuck with me forever.

RIP MR. BRADBURY, I shed a tear!

You will be sorely missed but you will LIVE
FOREVER!
THE KING IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE KING!!!

The first book I ever read from Ray Bradbury was the famous Fahrenheit 451 and I loved it. It changed my thinking on a lot of things. Other stories would follow, some great, and of course some not-so-great like all writers, but Ray was never boring and never repeated himself. He was always a fresh and original voice. I still remember reading his famous Martian books. Dated as far as the science, but not as far as ideas.
Sci Fi is too often ignored and the stuff on the big screen is never what science fiction is about. It's not about explosions and big CGI; it's about ideas and its about commentary about our lives. Rod Sterling loved Sci-Fi as it gave him the freedom to comment about our world without seeing too obvious. Ray did it all too well.

I think of the day we lost Issac Asimov and feel the same sadness I feel for Ray Bradbury. He was the great pioneer. I will really miss him. I really will.

Best fiction book I ever read is 'Death is a Lonely Business' - the fact I read it after reading so many of Ray Bradbury's short storys helped bring it alive. We have lost one of America's finest authors...as he wrote - whoever has family never dies...they live on in their hearts...well Mr Bradbury you will live on in ours!
