I liked it but I would like to point something out that I hope they address SPOILERS OBIVOUSLY

So Galifrey is now locked away somewhere, waiting to be found. But doesn't that mean Rassilon, the master, and ALL THE HORRORS of the time war besides the daleks are also saved? I mean if he finds it he risks unleashing the nightmare child and the could've been king right?

Wait what? I shouldn't watch this? Dang, I was gonna let the upcoming series and the 12th doctor (Peter Capaldi) be my gateway into the series.

@MCott, actually it might be a good way in, any questions you have you could check on line or even go back and watch them. But also, in general, with a new Doctor they pretty much restart.

Loved it. Already watched it twice. Will be watching a third time here in a few minutes. Loved the quick glimpse of the next Doctor.

John Hurt was amazing. And how the fit Rose Tyler into the episode was just simply amazing. I was wondering how they were going to work since how they left her.

Just everything about this was perfect for the 50th Anniversary.

What a dumbshit, giving it 'Worst Movie Ever'. He has no mental capacity.

It was [frick]ing terrible, show has been an unwatchable mess since Tennant and Davies left, Moffat's [frick]ed everything up.

I never have gotten into the series, mostly because I never had bbc America channel. But I have caught a few episodes here and there and they were okay. I watched this since there was nothing else on and was setting up my xbox one and actually enjoyed it. The humor was really good and a good storyline. So I enjoyed it being someone who doesn't watch the show on a regular basis.

Like Wulfenmarc, i have never watched a second of DW, and im gonna watch it now, Now i know i dont really have to watch the oldies, i should start with Eccleston, but i had a question about the anny: So is Eccleston irrelevent now??? like who ACTUALLY transformed into eccleston, I had assumed Paul Mccann had, but now that he turned into Hurt, who did?

wilderfox2 - 11/23/2013, 11:00 PM
Also, Who thought that this would end with them not choosing to destroy Gallifey, which they did, but thus making a new universe all Star Trek style, and Smith and Tennant sacrificing themselves by ceasing to exist because of the time change???

Why do they say 13 doctors when there are 14 now with Capaldi?
LOL
LOL - 11/24/2013, 12:02 AM
@ wilderfox2, they say 13 because John Hurt's "War Doctor" wasn't a true regeneration. The War Doctor is an bio-engineered FORCED regeneration that was brought about with some help by the Sisterhood of Karn. Theoretically, all his regenerations are "intact", so Capaldi is still basically the 12th Doctor with the War Doctor being the odd man out.

The troll haters here pretty much show their ineptitude like a broken record when their excuse isn't even intelligently worth a damn. You twits never got the gist of what the show is all about. It's not hard science fiction - it was never meant to be. One of them said it best that Doctor Who is mostly a fairy tale loosely covered in sci-fi. The one who professed that a CW show was better than Doctor Who is REALLY scraping the barrel on the IQ quotient. That was ignorant and pathetic. They (BBC) do a LOT of different things on their television series/franchises that culturally clash a little with the average American audience not really "in the know". If you don't take the time to actually TRY to understand the mindset and small nuances in what's so different from a BBC show vs an American one, then yes, you will most likely hate it/not get it. Try to get a little more perspective from all the angles if you're gonna bash something.

I've been watching the show since I was a kid starting with the John Pertwee era when they started showing it on overseas years ago. While the series does have it's ups and downs, it HAS come a long way.

Personally, I liked the 50th anniversary special of Doctor Who. It may not be completely perfect for some die-hard purist fans, but they were able to tie in a fair lot of the 50 year history the show has had since it's initial outing. :-)

Oh yeah, and I loved that Rose Tyler wasn't Rose Tyler, it was more Billie Piper playing a bad River Song. Hell, they should've just used Alex Kingston as River Song.

Doctor Who, definitely one of the benefits of being a colony of Britain. Grew up with it.

@JohnGalt
Doctor Who is so BIG you are just not qualified to say it's a terrible, Uninteresting, unintelligent show.

Well...regardless of the fact that that guy's rating system is retarded, the fact that he gave it a bad rating because of it's time travel element is even more so. Happily never watching another one of this moron's brainfarts ever again. The episode was incredible.
SuperSomething616
SuperSomething616 - 11/24/2013, 4:43 AM
WORST!? Are you freaking kidding me!!! Yes time travel is dumb if done incorrectly...

Doctor Who works cause it has a certain number of ground rules...i.e The Doctor doesn't normally cross his own time line.and there are fixed points that cant be changed...

This anniversary episode was immense and I challenge anyone who thinks otherwise!!!

Jazz815 ` Tom Baker was simply an interface, or part of The Doctor's subconscious. He was there to show his approval of The Doctor's actions, as he had hated himself over what he had did for such a long time. The Doctor OBVIOUSLY won't regenerate into his previous lives.’
You are wrong! SuperDude001 got it correct ` To those asking, Tom Baker was there as a future Doctor (possibly last regeneration). As Eleven says, he thinks to retire and become a curator to which the real curator of the National Gallery appears, being Tom Baker. The Doctor knew the face and as the curator explains Eleven (and so on) will revisit old faces meaning he will one days regenerate to faces/forms he has had in the past.’ He was not a interface. Watch the episode again before you try to correct SuperDude.

And Peter Capaldi is the 13th. It appears to the rest of the universe the Doctor's world is still believed to be destroyed whereas it was removed maybe to reveal itself at a later date. Watch the episode carefully

Loved it. Matt Smith and David Tennant played off each other brilliantly. Makes me wish the 10th and 11th doctors could team up more often. "Sand shoes and grand-dad." Just one of the many lines that had me laughing my arse off. Having John Hurt there was the icing on the cake. However the cherry for me, the one thing I did not expect to see... Tom Baker at the very end. That almost brought a tear to my eye. The blink and you'll miss it shot of Peter Capaldi's eyes was also great. Come to think of it, the whole episode was great.

STOOPUDR - 11/24/2013, 9:28 AM
my only problem with the episode and discussion is everyone including the doctor forgot we already knew galifrey WA in a pocket universe, it was shown in the episode with the master. Depending on Tennants place in the timeline he might not know, but Smith does. And in the episode Tenant knew that was what he did to galifrey.

Baker was great. It showed that the doctor may retire and mot die on Tresalore. I think baker is the form the doctor would take when he retired.
