Robocop Reboot Concept Art By Jason Hazelroth

Take a look at this Concept art done by Jason Hazelroth. Think Iron man meets Tron Legacy.

Freelance concept artist Jason Hazelroth has apparently been working on a Robocop redesign since 2008. I am a huge fan of the original and I like his redesign a lot. Aside from the fact thar it looks like Tony Stark's mark 2 suit and the Tron:Legacy light cycles, i think he's on the right track.

So what do you guys think? Is this a good look for the reboot if it ever gets released?

I'm sorry but this looks like the worse idea for Robocop. The entire premise was that he was this bulking creation to be slow and works much like a humans would....this looks too out there even for Robocop. He's not supposed to be fast

Ummmm nothing wrong with the original costume, And no hes a cop he doesnt need a friggn sword. dont fix what aint broken. His car looks badass though. Also hes not Judge Dredd he dont need a stupid tron style bike. Now the question remains if he gets a reboot , who plays Murphy aka Robocop???????

It's like, what do ya get when ya cross a Xylon with iron man? SHIT,,,but I think the car is badass tho, kinda looks like a Taurus in about 15 yrs.

Yeah lose the sword and the bike...I'm down with the car but realistically the whole point of Robocop is that the City is broke and needs cheap ways to enforce the law. Hence Robocop......having him driving that car makes no sense. Remember he's still a cyborg...not a ninja.

I like the redesign of the suit, and it makes sense for it to be more agile and to have a more organic look to it. I think that is a baton in his hand and it looks cool. Needs a little more work to distance itself from Iron Man and Tron: Legacy, but all in all looks good. Espically the car.

I really wanted to see a Robocop reboot, because there is so much to explore. I wanted Arronofsky to direct (and I'm not that big of fan of his to begin with), but now I would go with someone like...
Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Green Hornet, Science of Sleep)
Duncan Jones (Moon)
Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 28 Days Later, Trainspotting)
Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, Layer Cake, Stardust)
James McTiegue (V for Vendetta, Ninja Assaisgn)

As for who should play Robocop, my one and only vote is Kevin McKidd (Rome, Grey's Anatomy), he has that right look of the original Robocop and looks like an ordinary guy, someone you would believe is a cop.

Looks so much Iron Man inspired though (look at those thighs armor!), but it looks good!

Liking the helmet, the car also looks pretty nice!

Well, being a concept artist myself I think its more likely that the producers and director are influencing his art. Usually we end up being the hands of more uncreative types. Personally I find that the original Robocop costume is extremely iconic. It was done very realistically and this one is obviously going for a futuristic vibe, which is out of line. The first robocop worked so well because it was set in modern day detroit (that is to say modern day during the 80's) and the suit was based on real machines of the day. Just like Terminator was. This makes it very relatable to the current generations. The problem I suppose would be that our modern day style is lame. The future is where its at... We can make stuff that isnt real in the future...

As for the design I think it is moving away from what made the first movie so awesome. You felt like he was a machine! It was big and clunky and peter wellers movements and voice sold it as a machine. So Im very weary that this will not come off the same and they will mess it up. Sometimes you cant reboot things that were so perfect.

I like them. That being said, it looks like he watched iron man and tron right before he did them. I like the armor, but keep him in the squad car. Once they started with the jetpacks and things the whole franchise went to pot.

Robocop was a good movie but now it looks like that they r making him more flexible and can fight instead of walking and fighting like a robot i just hope they dont over do it at least and make him a bad a$$ robot who can fight like a ninja haha

AEStark - 2/17/2011, 12:39 AM
Oh and why does he need a sword? A nightstick, absolutely. A sword? Not so much.

ROBOCOP is a BADASS. He doesn't need a pimped out suit or a pimped out car.

Whats the point on give him a car whne hes only going to launch it off a bridge to make a grand entrance while he's still inside it as it explodes because you know how those bad guys are ;) ....They like to blow his car up. :)

It's just color edits of the armor of Iron Man, exactly the same poses other artists as already done.. same for the Tron's motorcycle.

It's really not concept art for a movie.

Not bad.

looks like Chris Bale.

The car, bike and sword was little bit too much thou.

I bet if Aronofsky would have made the movie it would have been much much much realistic than Robo is in those pictures.
