Dying STAR TREK Fan Passes Away After Fulfilling Wish To See INTO DARKNESS

Earlier this week, we told you the heart-warming story of a terminally ill Star Trek fan whose dying wish was made a reality by J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof; to see Star Trek Into Darkness before he passed away. Though he got to see the movie, Dan Craft has now died.

When the wife of a terminally ill Star Trek fan posted an open letter on Reddit and Twitter asking Paramount to make her husband's wish to see Star Trek Into Darkness a reality, J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof made it so. After signing numerous non-disclosure agreements, "Dan" was able to watch a rough-cut DVD copy of the film. Now identified as 42-year-old Dan Craft, New York’s Subway Cinema reported on its Facebook page that he died on Friday night of complications from cancer. He was a longtime supporter of Subway Cinema and the New York Asian Film Festival.

Last night around 10:15pm, Dan Craft, who has been a member of Subway Cinema since 2004, passed away. His wife and brother were with him when he went, and he wasn't in any pain. He'd been a bit loopy for a few days as his liver failed and toxins built up in his blood, and on Thursday his wife asked him if he needed to go to the bathroom. "I'm going..." he proclaimed, "Into the future."

See you there, Dan.

Dan Craft: 1971 - 2013

We miss you.
