We've learned a few minor details about the new supporting characters we'll be meeting in Solo: A Star Wars Story and managed to piece together a few more from the various marketing material, but Lucasfilm has now officially released some descriptions for the members of Han's crew we aren't already familiar with from previous movies.

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Topps Trading Cards Provide New Looks At The Film's Main Heroes And Villains

The breakdowns are brief, but they do reveal some new things about Becket, Val, Qi-Ra and Rio Durant, while confirming a few others. There's nothing on the villains, unfortunately.

Check 'em out below along with some new - and one very familiar - vehicle descriptions, and be sure to let us know what you think in the usual place.

To view all of the descriptions at once, simply click on the VIEW LIST (ONE PAGE) button below!

Tobias Beckett

Tobias Beckett

Beckett is a survivor, always quietly working out angles to come out ahead. He's assembled a team of specialized scoundrels to carry out risky but profitable heists.

Qi'Ra

Qi'ra

At 18 years of age, young Qi'ra is already enmmeshed in a life of crime, working for a gang on Corellia

Val

Val

A no-nonsense and occasionally prickly woman who is a crack shot with a blaster rifle, Val may be the most even-headed and capable member of Tobias Beckett's ragtag crew of scoundrels.

Rio Durant

Rio Durant

Rio Durant has carried out dangerous operations alongside scoundrel Tobias Beckett for years. The good-natured Ardennian pilot is up for any challenge.

L3-37

L3-37

A "self-made droid" built from astromech and protocol parts, L3-37 is an enlightened navigator who cares deeply about droid rights.

Corellian M-68 Landspeeder

Corellian M-68 landspeeder

Han Solo is cagey about where he scored this overpowered M-68 landspeeder, saying little beyond that its previous owner no longer had a need for it.

Imperial Heavy TIE Fighter

Imperial heavy TIE fighter

Compensating for the relative fragility of the unshielded TIE starfighter is the armored TIE/rb, a reinforced heavy starfighter with much more powerful laser cannons.

Imperial Conveyex Transport

Imperial Conveyex transport

For rapid transport of special cargo across surface distances on frontier worlds, the Empire uses heavily armored conveyex vehicles that travel along rails winding through treacherous terrain.

Millennium Falcon

Millennium Falcon

Despite her humble origins and shabby exterior, the Millennium Falcon has played a role in some of the greatest victories of the Rebel Alliance and the New Republic. The Falcon looks like a worn-out junker, but beneath her hull she’s full of surprises. A succession of owners, from Lando Calrissian and Han Solo to Gannis Ducain, have made special modifications that boosted the freighter’s speed, shielding and firepower to impressive – and downright illegal – levels.

The price of such tinkering? The Falcon can be unpredictable, with her hyperdrive particularly balky. Despite her flaws, she’s beloved by her owners – Han Solo and Chewbacca have spent years searching the galaxy for the ship they once called home.

One thing that has always bugged me about SW was all the modified TIE fighters we've gotten.

There's simply no explanation for how the Empire had all these different variations of TIEs in prequel movies but only the original three show up in IV, V & VI.

Nitpicky, but still.

@L0RDbuckethead - Budget concerns. Most money went to the death stars and destroyers

That is my lame ass guess

@L0RDbuckethead - they saw that even with shielding and heavier firepower the pilots were still not getting the job done, so they cut the budget and gave them bare bones ships and just hired more pilots.

Also Empire has a second type of TIE fighter in the Bombing model, and Vaders TIE is better than the rest with better shielding, maneuverability and weapons. In general TIE fighters are faster than XWings without the defense of the strong shield.

Both the standard TIE and vader tie were in 4, then 5 introduced the bomber and 6 brought the interceptor. 7 gave us the FO(first order) model and the FO/sf(superior fighter) model, then 8 gave us kylos FO tie silencer(looks like a long interceptor)

@Gizmoduck -

OK nice, thanks for the rundown of TIEs, it's hard to keep up with all the models they've introduced. We're all the TIEs in Rogue One ones that we had seen previously?

@L0RDbuckethead - No, they introduced the TIE striker that is supposed to be able to 1v1 an xwing. But clearly there is no reason it was never a continued model other than it is supposed to be experimental. It looks like a Tie interceptor that lost the bottom half of the wings.

@L0RDbuckethead - The situations in which we see TIEs are very limited in the OT.

Only open, deep space fighting. The only time we get them to go in an asteroid field they get wrecked in no-time.

The thing is that, as in real world, Empire use different aircrafts for different environments. TIE Strikers for atmospheric fights and Heavy TIEs for this particular operation. Other TIEs we saw in Rebels were just prototypes.

First Order clearly went with a multirole fighter strategy, just like the real world. The TIE/fo and TIE/sf are crafts suitable even for atmospheric fights, since the FO has a smaller army, so it has to be more efficient.
