"Star Wars Rebels" continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people. The clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost is amongst a select few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries, embark on thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion.

Star Wars Rebels takes place between Star Wars: Episode III and IV as the Empire tightens its grip on the galaxy and a rebellion begins to form. Executive produced by Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Greg Weisman. The series premiered on October 3rd as a one-hour special telecast - "Spark of Rebellion" - and you can read my review of that episode by clicking right here.

Spoiler alert -

They FAIL.

The Empire runs rampant for almost 20 years. Vader and the Emperor are eventually taken down by Vader's son......

Before this show came out, I was hoping for the best but expecting the worst.

And thankfully, it's surpassing my expectations! For a kids show it's very mature in tone and surprisingly adult with it's writing! It's not perfect, but it is really good! I was even surprised by how few punches they pull. In this episode alone, several of the main characters straight up killed some Stormtroopers! Gotta say, I didn't think Disney would be willing to go there.

So, yeah.
The characters are likeable and so is their world.
It just feels like an original trilogy adventure!

Even with it's flaws, Clone Wars was simply better than Rebels, mostly because of the better characters it had.

The Jedi and his apprentice story in Rebels seems to be a rerun of what we've seen before. Very powerful but untrained boy and dumbass master who gets ass kicked routinely.

It was a bit annoying to hear the Vader/Imperial March theme played with the entrance of the 3rd rate Inquisitor who is just a mix of other Star Wars baddies. It's kind of sad that Star Wars villains now have their own generic style, as well as the same exact attitude, dialog and behavioral rountines. They are all just the same person in a different costume and different name. They are more like old style comic book villains than current comic book villains.

It is also puzzling as to why the Inquisitor is not good enough to be a Sith but he is able to easily defeat a Jedi? Are the Jedi really just a bunch of overrated nothings with that can be bested by a any thug with a lightsaber?

It seems that whenever someone stands up to a Jedi, the Jedi fall without a fight.

Star Wars is now about the comic book Sith villains like this Inquisitor fool who are uninteresting derivatives of each other facing a bunch of sorry ass monks with ESP who call themselves Jedi. Star Wars was better in Episodes 4-6 when we knew less about the pussy-Jedi monks and generic-cartoony-Sith.

@ManDeth

You have a lot of complaints. I will argue some of your points. When have we seen a struggling master in star wars, one who felt inadequate and ill prepared to handle his task? I don't remember one. Calling "cliche!" is getting really old, people just throw that up on the wall and hope it sticks because it just sounds so critique-y

Neither Ezra or Kanaan are powerful, but that is the point. No one is going to accept or believe that a bad-ss jedi master/apprentice team would go unchallenged by vader, these guys are small fries so he sends one of his special ops dark side goons to get 'em. Kanaan's training is incomplete so it's hard for him to teach Ezra who is all instinct, their order is dead and it makes sense for them to be weak.

The Inquisitor is a great addition to the star wars lore. As far as I can tell he is like a dark side commando, trained just enough in the dark side of the force to be an excellent hunter but not enough to truly carry the sith ambition or tradition.

You seem to think all Jedi should be super awesome, but most are no where near the level of the main characters we saw in the movies and clone wars, most Jedi we saw were on the council or in the A team. There were lots of other jedi who were far less noteworthy.

Average Jedi would get wrecked by imperial special forces trained in the use of the dark side solely for combat. Kanaan and Ezra are, at best, a mediocre Jedi team, and that is what is fun. They are not hero material like luke or obi wan, nothing about them screams destiny, but as a whole this ragtag group might make a difference.

Well I am done. I doubt I changed your mind but give the show some time to grow on you. Or just stop watching it.
