When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee — who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

@Levi: I would like to see it be better than The Dark Knight, Avengers is (pure opinion people, no flame war damn it!). Problem with The Dark Knight is its an excellent film but, it's an excellent crime film. It doesn't feel like a CBM. Batman Begins does, TDK does not. Therefore, I personally don't acknowledge The Dark Knight as a CBM. Also, it only reached a billion cause of a Janurary re-release and would be average if Ledger hadn't been cast and elevated the film. He's the only reason I ever watch it anymore...

Anyways, Pacific Rim and Elysium are going to be the best films of the summer. Calling it right now!

Star Wars for a new generation? Damn, probably sucks to that critic cause Star Wars is over rated. It's got amazing effects for its time but those movies just aren't good. They suck.

what I think will be the like star wars is guardians of the galaxy cause it got that big space adventure fill to it,
But I hope this movie will be good.

Crossbones

it's an excellent crime film.

Have you read The Long Halloween, Year 1, Dark Victory, or Earth 1? All Batman crime books. Now what does Batman do? Fight crime. So why fault it for Batman fighting crime if that's what he does. That's like saying a good Green Lantern film is too SCI-FI but that's what he does.

doesn't feel like a CBM.

Good. That makes it better. It makes it different, unique.

it only reached a billion cause of a Janurary re-release

Oh what about Star Wars films? They've been re-released multiple times. Also Avengers were re-released too last year.

average if Ledger hadn't been cast and elevated the film.

Aaron's Harvey Dent disagrees with you.

Star Wars is over rated

The Original Trilogy is still the best Trilogy ever. Hell all of the prequels were better than TASM.
EdgyOutsider
EdgyOutsider - 7/8/2013, 11:09 AM
@Levi: I like that its unique to but, my gripe with the entire trilogy (which I love) is that it doesnt feel like a CBM, therefore I still won't acknowledge it as a CBM. The thing with the billion dollars thing is, Avengers had already grosse over a billion way before it was re-released. Name me one standout performance other than Eckhart and Ledger then I may reconsider what I said cause those two are the only ones that impressed me. Maggie Gyllenhaal can't act her way out of a paper bag and everyone else was just the same as Batman Begins. Also, why bring TASM into this? Just because I think Star Wars sucks? Your insults on TASM in what feels like (even though its not accurate) every article gets annoying bro.
LEVITIKUZ

Crossbones

Star Wars: A New Hope was re-released in 1978, 1979, 1981, 1982, and 1997. Raiders of the Last Ark was re-released, Ghostbusters was re-released, Avatar was re-released, Avengers was re-released, Iron Man was re-released, Titanic was re-released. Any complaints towards The Dark Knight being re-released are invalid. So what if it made a billion in its re-release? That's the only reason to hate the re-released and call in invalid? Lame excuse.

I did name one. Aaron. Not you want me to name another? Geez. I'll name Eric Roberts. A surprise pick. Dude was great as Maroni and underrated.

I brought TASM in after you dissed Star Wars.
EdgyOutsider
EdgyOutsider - 7/8/2013, 12:01 PM
@Levi: I brought up the billion dollar thing with the re-release cause everyone praises how it's the first superhero movie to do so. Throwing in it's a re-release shows that it really isn't as successful as people make it out to be (just my logic) but still very, very successful. Eric Roberts is good but not a stand out, Aaron Eckhart and Heath Ledger are the only stand outs in the film and the reasons it was elevated.

Oh boohoo, I dissed on Star Wars. I get shit from my stepdad all the time cause Jurassic Park is my all time favorite movie and he hates it, doesn't mean I talk shit about another movie all the time. I hate The Cat in the Hat, I hate Green Lantern. I don't bring them up every time someone hates on a movie I like.

thejon93rd
thejon93rd - 7/8/2013, 9:34 PM
LOL, how did Superman cause more damage than Zod? He had a weapon that damn near destroyed the planet! You know why most critics hated it? Because the subject matter and tone was handled like The Dark Knight, to a point where you can literally feel the weight of the world on the Man of Steel's shoulders, where you are left almost completely devastated by the destruction you're viewing on-screen that you fear for every existing character in the film itself. It got intense and half the critics couldn't handle it... but hey, The Dark Knight was great and totally not dark or depressing or anything along those lines.
