PACIFIC RIM SYNOPSIS - When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim was directed by Guillermo del Toro, from a script written by Travis Beacham. The cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke. Now available on DVD & Blu-ray!

Yeah, the rain and snow didn't add much IMO.

Although I appreciate the effort from the ILM crew and the amount of work they put in, not even these great effects could make this at least a "good" movie.

When they tried to explain scientific way of how the Kaiju came to our world from a different dimension, I thought why bother? It sounded so bland and fake.

I think it would've been cool if they made them a mystery. Like, "No one knows quite where they come from, blah blah", than the sequel could of explored that.

Oh okay now I see why Pacific Rim didn't get a nomination.

@CaptainObvious

I loved it, that was the movie's true tone - “What we went for [was] a very, very romantic look. I wanted to have a lot of crazy rain, wind, all the drama of an Emily Bronte movie in a high-tech movie.” (stated by Del Toro)

Unfortunately they went full retard in every aspect of the movie when there wasn't a robot or an alien on the screen. Oh what could have been.

Wow. Well that is just mind-blowing the amount of time and talent went into those graphics.

I can't believe how far we've come with CGI.

I'd pay more money just to watch 2hrs of monster fights, minus the boring head-shaking cliched human drama that surrounded this film and helped drag it down.
