ROGUE ONE: Check Out A New Image Of The Villainous Krennic As Ben Mendelsohn Discusses His Character
In a new interview, Ben Mendelsohn shares some info on his Rogue One: A Star Wars Story character, Director Orson Krennic. We also have a new image of the villain, surrounded by his Deathtroopers...
The Star Wars saga has a history of utilizing some very strong villains, and fans are hoping to see Ben Mendelsohn (The Place Beyond the Pines, Bloodline) continue that tradition in Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
In a new interview with Empire, the Aussie actor shared some new details on his character and how he was able to rise through the ranks of The Empire. Plus, even though Director Krennic and Darth Vader are on the same side, it sounds like they are far from bossom buddies.
"It's fair to say Lord Vader and he aren't friendly. Darth is very much about the Force. Krennic is force. Not really down with the whole mystical thing."
"Krennic does not come "from the aristocracy of the Empire, if you like. He is truly a man that has made his own way up the chain through his own abilities. His weapon, for instance, is a very old type of blaster, because he's an old warrior dude. He’s been put in charge of making this thing happen. And it's gonna get done!"
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers.
The movie opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016.
