Stan Lee is at it again talking about future Marvel movies. It is known he has no real influence, or say, in what Marvel Studios, Fox or Sony do with their superhero movie properties. But he does have some limited knowledge of ideas that are thrown around behind studios' closed doors.
This past weekend, Lee spoke at Wizard World Comic Con in New York and talked about a
Doctor Strange movie and hinted at a
Black Panther film. Now according to a report by MTV Geek, the legendary comic creator says another solo movie that might eventually be in the works....
Silver Surfer.
"MTV GEEK: What are some upcoming Marvel movies you know about and – because you’re partial to the Silver Surfer – do you think he’ll ever get a standalone film?
LEE: Well, let me put it to you this way: Back at Marvel, they are frantically looking for what is the next one they’re going to do. There is no way they won’t eventually do a Silver Surfer movie. It may not be for a few years because they’re thinking and working on Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy. Everything we have. And the fans seem to want all of them. But they’ll get around to a Silver Surfer feature because he’s a wonderful character."
A
Silver Surfer solo movie or did Lee just get confused as to which studios owns certain hero properties? Maybe but if he didn't, why not? Fox can build it into their own cohesive Marvel movie universe along with their
X-Men and
Fantastic Four franchises. Heck, this could eventually lead Fox into an X-Men/Fantastic Four/Silver Surfer crossover movie versus Galactus!
Wishful fanboy thinking? Or did Lee mistakenly clue fans into something Fox is planning? It is definitely worthy of some discussion and/or debate.
