Spawn: How a reboot could work.

I explain how a Spawn film could work, as I name a writer and director that I would like to see helm a Spawn film.

Spawn, Image Comics' best known superhero, but unfortunately not alot of people these days know that a comic company that isn't Marvel or DC even exist. Spawn is actually a very interesting character and his origin is somewhat like Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider's. It's always tricky bringing a comic book character to the big screen, and Spawn is possibly one of the trickiest characters to bring to life.

My train of thought of how they could make Spawn work is it being kinda like Ghost Rider as far as making the deal with the "devil" but obviously keeping the Spawn origin, well Spawn but other than that make it kinda like Nolan's Batman Flicks. Make him a creature of the night, he isn't a nice guy at all. Alot of comicbook fans what the darker characters to always be rated R. Batman could work, Daredevil could work, Ghost Rider can but it wouldn't be necessary, Blade worked, Punisher well eh.. not very successful to say the least. Spawn is a character that could work, and possibly work very well. But we would need a very good director and writer(s) that have a history in this sort of dark genre that could really help make the film work. Here are my choices

For a Spawn film here are my choices

Dirctor: David Slade

I chose David Slade because of the fact that he is very good with darker films. 30 Days of Night was great and he is directing the DareDevil reboot after directing the pilot episode of Hannibal (based on the Hannibal Lector character). But it's because of his filmography I feel he is right to direct Spawn.

Writer:

The film Zodiac, enough said. Lol.

But that's just me. What are your thoughts? Leave your respectful comments below.

David Slade would be great for Spawn. Spawn really needs good movie treatment.

The thing with Spawn is that it has a lot of horror aspects, that visually will be very hard to be translated to the big screen. Like, if you want to stick close to its source material, then you'll have to think a lot regarding how characters like Malebolgia, Clown, etc., should look like in the movie. Even with today's developed special effect techniques and all, I can't see that being an easy thing - those characters can downright look cheap without proper handling. (As we can see in 1997's Spawn; even with a better CGI, I don't think that movie would look better overall.) That's just about the visual problem; as for the characters themselves, there's not much problem, as they can fit well with today's CBM standards, IMO...and well, to me, visual problem is the biggest - and perhaps the only - obstacle to revive Spawn in this modern CBM era, although I'd kill to see another movie of it.
