When it was revealed that Spider-Man would be using mechanical web-shooters in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, the positive response from fans was huge. Sam Raimi decided not to use them in his trilogy, instead making the ability to shoot webs just another of Peter Parker's new powers (the comics quickly did the same before reverting to the web-shooters at the beginning of 2008's "Brand New Day"). This latest featurette puts the spotlight on both the creation of the web-shooters for the big screen and their importance in the Spider-Man mythos.

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors/The Lizard
Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben
Sally Fields as Aunt May
Denis Leary as George Stacy

As a massive Spidey fan, I think I've been over-exposed to this movie. I always avoid these features, but they even played a scene before Prometheus that went on for like 6-7 minutes... It was excruciating because I had avoided all the news stories and couldn't even avoid being force-fed it while seeing another movie!

Of course I'll be seeing it next week out of duty to Marvel, but I'm just not that excited.

78% on Rotten Tomatoes does not equal disappointment. Not every movie can score in the 90% range like The Avengers. And We've all seen movies that dip below the 50% mark and loved them regardless.

IGN also gave Ghost Rider 2 an 8/10 and loved Dragon Ball Evolution, so I wouldn't take their review to heart...

Anyone else notice in one of the featurettes when Peter lays out all of his dad's stuff from the bag, there are little "chips", laid out with everything else. They look like what Peter is holding up at the 0:40-0:41 mark. Wonder if they are connected..because we have all seen the scene where peter is in the blue UV room with all the webs, and his dad worked for Oscorp, so maybe his dad has a hand in him creating his webshooters. Just a thought.

loving the web-shooters something that was seriously missing from the first 3 films, by him creating those it demonstrates his intellegence level another thing that was lacking in the Raimi trilogy.

I honestly don't get why people keep saying they've seen to much of the movie. The last few featurettes and even the "4 minute super-preview" (other than the opening scene with the burning car) was just made using footage we've already seen. Still incredibly excited for this movie!

@Coolantech....
Spidey two."Peter Parker. Brilliant but lazy."
In fact I thought part two of the trilogy did a good job of showing how smart he was. He had a firm grasp of the tech that Doc Ock was working on.

@Hush2010..thanks..yea iv a feelin - like many others here im sure, that it may be kinda reminiscent of Ang Lee's HULK..the way his dad was experimenting on him, but in The Amazing Spiderman, there may be a purpose behind his father doing it...because they clearly have a story to tell, and it may be an arc spanning 3, maybe more movies, kinda like Nolans batman, a beginning, middle and end..i dont know lol
