Another Spider-Man Musical Is Coming To New York

As Julie Taymor's Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark struggles to do anything right fans have been able to sit back and watch as the disaster unfolds on the much hated musical. So what do you do when a much hated concept for a musical doesn't work out? Why you make a second one of course...

Julie Taymor's idea for a musical based of the popular comic character Spider-Man was laughed at since day one. So after recasting, delays, and technical problems things still are not looking good for the fan hated and critically panned musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark that is still struggling to meet its March 15th opening.

Justin Morgan an improv comedian and composer has taken it upon himself to make his own Spider-Man musical that will also repsect the comics. Morgan will be opening his musical on March 14th, just a day before Turn Off The Dark opens (hopefully...Or not? Who Cares?). Here is what Morgan had to say about making his own wall crawling musical just before Taymor's:

“Our goal isn’t to tear down Julie Taymor or parody her production,” Mr. Moran said in a telephone interview on Tuesday morning. “Our goal is to do what she should have done in the first place, and that’s just make a really good musical.”

Morgan also threw in his two cents on what he thinks went wrong with Turn Off The Dark:

“I was like, of course it’s going to fail,” said Mr. Moran, whose lyrics for “Pope! The Musical” won an excellence award at the 2010 Fringe Festival. “They’re doing it all wrong. They’re spending all this money on all the wrong things.”

The currently titled Spidey Project (working title) will hit Broadway March 14th.
