With the "Marvel Studios" logo being spotted on a few pieces of promotional material for The Amazing Spider-Man (specifically on banners used on Marvel's own site) many started wondering if some sort of deal had been struck between them and Sony to allow Spidey to swing his way into The Avengers or one of its sequels. It would certainty bring in the crowds, and Nick Fury had a lot to do with the teenage character in the Ultimate Universe, a series of comics which Marc Webb and the cast apparently looked at for inspiration. Well, not so according to executive producer Avi Arad.
"No. I think obviously in the comics, the team-ups and mix-ups have kept publishing going for many years. But Spider-Man has a huge universe of its own, so many villains, foes and friends. It's not something we're thinking about because we have so much more to tell."
A shame, but not really all that surprising! What do you guys think of this news though? Disappointed? Pleased? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!
