Denis Leary was caught after a recent publicity tour for his hit FX show 'Rescue Me'. He had this to offer about next summer's blockbuster release of "The Amazing Spider-Man".
On Andrew Garfield's performance:
I loved Andrew. I really loved him. I think he’s great. He’s terrific in the role. He was trained as a gymnast when he was growing up in England, which came in handy. Most of the stunts in the movie are done live in front of the cameras. He’s really just a terrific actor. I loved working with him. I thought he was great.
On Emma Stone:
Same thing with Emma. I thought she was just — they’re both, they’re actually more mature than I am, and so that says a lot, but they’re very incredibly talented and really [expletive] professional. I mean, she’s 22 years old. I don’t want to tell you what I was doing at 22 years old. I was very impressed by her.
On playing George Stacy:
I’m more of a Batman guy, not the 60’s [version], like the really dark Batman. My wife was a Spider-Man nut, which is why I went to [see] the Tobey Maguire ones. But the thing I liked — I have a good friend, [‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’s’] Jeff Garlin, who is a Spider-Man freak. He was the first guy that said to me, ‘First time I met you, I thought you were George Stacy.’ This was like 30 years ago. I go, ‘What?’ He had an old comic book frame that he had saved… and I was like, ‘You’re sick,’ and he’s like , ‘No, I’m a Spider-Man freak.’ So people take it very [seriously]
