I see lots and lots of complaints about the direction MarkWebb went with the new Spider-Man suit.. With the majority of the complaints surrounding Spidey's "burnt crotch" (and,or) Shoe/boots, brings me wanting to point out a few things..

1. EVERY official image released by Sony (which has only been 2 so far) looks almost completely different than the ones We've seen it set pictures.. Truer colors, added (eye screen) features in the mask, awesome shading (ect)

2. I'm absolutely SURE that we will see nothing of a "burnt crotch" in this film. The reasoning behind the darkened penile area is strictly for modesty issues in effects/lighting. IT'S ALL IN THE MOVIE MAGIC FOLKS!!! Think about it.. From any typical Spidey pose (and,or) stance You'll hardly ever even see that area of him in the first place. Physically darkening that area just gives a better and more modest effect in the editing room when adjusting the lighting/contrast.. TRUST ME

3. The fact that web formula/shooters WILL be in this version of the story should make you think about a lot.. Peter Parker is a scientist!! If he can develop web, web shooters, (ect) Then I'm sure they'll tackle that area of Parker experimenting/inventing different types of materials/elements to interact with his physical suit and traits that come along with it. Webb is approaching this movie in more practical ways then Raimi did, as we can see in filming style alone. Which I personally think is a win.

4. (following 3.) Brings me to the shoe/boots. (back to thinking practical) How do we know there's not some kind of reasoning behind them? Like, maybe the sole of a typical boot would be too thick for Spidey's retractable micro-talons to get through. What if those shoe/boots are specially thinned (and,or) coated with something to help Spidey keep "a grip" on things.. Not to the point were He's picking up litter in ally ways, but just something that gives assistance while going vertical, and not putting ALL the resistance on his hands and knees.

5. In the long run, I think comparing Webb's movie with Raimi's movie(s) will be like comparing Shoemaker's Batman with Nolan's Batman (Raimis films not nearly as bad as Shoemaker's.. films) Just saying, the FACTS is: They are going in a totally different direct with this one (LIKE THE COMICS) and we can not judge this without AT LEAST seeing a trailer..

I have high HOPES for this film.. There are many talented actors involved and I predict once trailers start spilling out that.. Well, just wait and see.

The real reason that most people are hating on this new suit is because we've recently seen the suit from the comics (with a minor tweak or two) on screen. This suit looks like its different for the sake of being different so it can distinguish itself from Raimi's films, when it could've done so without such a drastic change. and the last part with the Nolan and Schumacher comparrison was a little uncalled for since Raimi's films (the second one anyway) were critically acclaimed... just saying. They were far from being bad movies.

i'm gonna give the suit a chance,i'm looking forward to seeing the amazing spider-man & the avengers the most in 2012.

i admit i do prefer the classic spidey suit,but i think this is quite cool looking.

The suit change is cool. It's not nearly as drastic a change as most are making it out to be.

people complain about the suit because Spidey has one of those costumes that just shouldn't be changed, much like Superman. There is a reason why Spidey's costume still looks the same way it did back in the 60's, and how every time they've tried to change it in the comics, it has failed miserably with the fans.

I'll give it a chance, and i certainly wouldn't let it ruin the movie for me, but that doesn't mean I have to like it either.

@TehDude LOL I absolutely agree.. I was simply trying to point out the two very different outlooks/views from the two directors. Spider-Man 2 is one of my favorite CBM's to date. I personally thought it was too early for a reboot at first, but.. I'm just saying: Lets wait and see something before we get all (FirstClass) on the subject. Look at ALL the haters that turned fanboy in that situation.

@Marvel72 2012 movie line up is nuts!! I can't wait either..

@Ironpool007 Hear hear..

@CornDogBurglar True..

NO.... it looks like SH1T! : P

Another rammed up your A$$ crappy Hollywood version... Sony's lucky I'm giving this SPIDEY (Slash) TWILIGHT movie a chance!

It still looks a billion times better than that X-crap from FOX but it'll never ever touch Raimi's SPIDER-MAN 1 & 2!

Hope we get a decent looking LIZARD tho! :)

the only thing that really bothers me is the gloves, they need to be all red, not this red taped over blue looks

I really don't wanna see a new Spider-Man movie but I'll watch it for the sake of comic books. I thought the first Spider-man was a fantastic movie and one of my favorite movies ever. This movie will not be the same I can promise you that. I doubt it will even be closer to the source material.

I'm really looking forward to this Spidey movie- whilst the others were enjoyable, they just didnt seem right somehow. I think the lack of wisecracks had something to do with it but ah well hopefully that will be remedied in this one! I think this suit looks great- much more realistic in terms of what a teenager could cobble together as opposed to Raimi's version which was creeping into the six digit figures from what I recall. I know its different from the original but Spidey is renowed for his wide variety of costumes- sure its different slightly but who knows? Maybe this is a precursing one to the original that we all know and love?

@Superguy whoa...I thought bitch was censored on CBM?
anyways, the suit looks cool IMO. Not as good as Raimi's design but it's a good replacement.

no. suit looks like shit
tehdude
tehdude - 5/6/2011, 5:32 PM
@RadicalDuck- completely... disagree. The suit looks no more realistic in terms of a teenager than Raimi's suit. It looked like normal material was used to make it and it looked less stylized and it didn't have that crazy texture to it that Webb's suit has.

Oh for #$%^'s sake hasnt anyone ever heard of a Cod piece or an athletic cup? If they were concered about showing too much of spidermans Junk detail thats all they had to do. they didnt need to go all black crotch.
Boyle360
Boyle360 - 5/7/2011, 7:18 AM
@LordHuck a cup would look unnatural and possibly uncomfortable. It would hinder his flexibility. They know what they're doing with the black crotch. Sure, it looks goofy now, but wait for the finished look with official pictures or finished footage. I mean, look at the first official pic of Andrew without the mask. His crotch looks fine. (woah that was gay...)

Still not liking the new suit, no matter how much they hype it up. Spidey movies should just go back to Marvel. Sony (and Fox) like to piss down our backs and tell us it's raining.

Sorry, the suit looks too much like the 70's Spidey costume from the live action TV show and don't like the tweeks. They shoulda stuck with the previous movie costume if they were able to. Besides, I think they should put the franchise to rest for a long while. Spidey 3 was such garbage.

There is no denying that Raimi's Spider-man 1 & 2 are classics.
