Jamie Foxx Talks Improvising & Recites An Electro-fying Lullaby For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

While promoting White House Down with his co-star Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx talked a bit about his role as Max Dillion/Electro in the forthcoming sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Discussing his approach to the supervillain with MTV News, the Academy Award-winning Django Unchained actor also reveals that he improvised some things, including a chilling lullaby rendition that should could be Electro's catchphrase in the Marc Webb-directed film. Check out the vid and transcription below!

"What I wanted to bring, we all decided was, we wanted to make Electro a formidable opponent, meaning we want him to really, really not like Spider-Man," Foxx said. "They would allow me to come up with things, because I think why you like going to see those types of movies, and that's what I dig doing, you want to hear catchphrases," said Foxx. "So at one point we were doing this green screen thing, and [Marc Webb] says, 'Just ad-lib something.' And I said, "The itsy-bitsy spider went up the water spout, down came... Electro... and wiped the spider out."

In “The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2,” for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & Jeff Pinkner, with a previous draft by James Vanderbilt, and based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are the producers. The latest chapter in the Spider-Man story is set for release in 3D on May 2, 2014.

Hey, Jamie, that's cool! It was even more cool when the Green Goblin did it in the first Spider-man movie. -_-

When anyone saw "Electro's Lullaby" did anyone think of Hush and the Hush Little Baby song? I've played Arkham City recently.

I loved the first movie. Can't wait for this one. Foxx as Electro seems kind of weird to me, but I still hope he kills it as Electro.

That's not exactly original. The Green Goblin did that in the original Spider-Man series. I guess he never saw it or forgot.

LMAO Webb's rehashing even more stuff from Raimi's series, I thought this series was meant to be reboot, LMAO why even reboot it in the first place, should have just done Spiderman 4 and kept it going from there, nevertheless I'm still looking foward to this movie for an odd reason.

Green Goblin will not be pleased. Watch the original movie Mr. Foxx and re-think using that lullaby

EdgyOutsider - 6/25/2013, 10:55 AM
Ocelot: That was Jamie Foxx who added that, not Webb. Pay attention. They rebooted it due to Raimi, Maguire and honestly, I don't think it would've gotten better after Spider-Man 3. That story was told and I thought they did a damn good job with the reboot. How people keep saying Webb is rehashing from the original trilogy is beyond movie. Okay so, origin told again and a green villain. That's the only similarities with the original and yeah, they had humorous things happen with his powers but I find that to be expected with a superhero origin. Especially a character as family friendly as Spider-Man.

Electro's "Lullaby"? Really? Man, this is going to be just as bad as Man of Steel if not worse. At least they got rid of that mediocre looking preggo chick from that retarded Secret Life show for MJ so it probably won't be that much of a stinker.

So Green Goblin said it in the first Spider-Man movie? So What?

Are we seriously going rip this Spider-Man film for using a line from previous Spider-Man films?

Are people going to complain if Peter Parker says "With great power comes great responsibility"

@inkslinger616, Wanda wasn't a tranny. She was supposed to be a really ugly girl that didn't know she was ugly.

The rebooted the franchise because if they didn't the rights would revert back to Marvel (how do you not know this?)

I didn't know Goblin had a copyright to nursery rhymes that have been around for generations. Looks like my preschool teacher has some explaining to do.

@CaptainObvious, what exactly did webb rip-off from raimi's movies?
PeterDarker
PeterDarker - 6/25/2013, 11:23 AM
@CaptainObvious, was any of it not in the comic? Because technically...
Ocelot
Ocelot - 6/25/2013, 11:25 AM
@Crossbones

Webb's the one who has final approval, Fox wanted to implement the idea and Webb agreed to it, if Webb doesn't want it in the movie it wont be in the movie, it's as simple as that.

You said it yourself we got another origin story, the movie was marketed as the "untold story" yet we got the "retold story" which followed the same plot structure as the first Spiderman film and had almost like for like scenes or moments, e.g. Peter owning flash, civilians helping Spiderman at a pivotal moment etc. We got the Lizard; a scientist who takes a serum, goes insane and tries to kill Spiderman hmmm didn't we see that in first film yup. The Lizard was almost an identical copy of the Green Goblin right down to him hearing voices in his head like Goblin did in Raimi's original film.

Even if he wanted to tell another Spiderman origin story he could have at least tried to make it largely different from Raimi's first film to differentiate, look at Batman Begins, it doesn't try to copy or be Burton's film it makes itself different and we get a good film, but instead he(Webb) decided to be unoriginal and just rehash Raimi's first film and gave us a story that was identical though less interesting than Raimi's first and frankly a film that simply wasn't needed.

ndwwrestler2 - 6/25/2013, 11:26 AM
@Ocelot It's a Spiderman Origins film, how much different do you really expect it to be?
