One of the reveals to come out of Marvel Animation's D23 panel was a brand new Spider-Man animated series. But unlike the one that currently airs on Disney XD (Marvel's Spider-Man), this one is being geared towards preschoolers and their families.

Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends is set to debut in 2021 and is the first full-length Marvel series created for the Disney Junior audience. The series will see Peter Parker's Spidey teaming up with his fellow spider friends Miles Morales and Ghost-Spider (Gwen Stacy) as well as other Marvel heroes such as Hulk, Black Panther, and Ms. Marvel, to defeat evil foes "to defeat evil foes and learn that teamwork is the best way to save the day."

“Preschool kids already love Spidey, so they’ll be delighted to have Peter Parker thwipping across their screens in this new series,”
said Cort Lane, senior vice president, Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment. “Everyone at Marvel is thrilled to launch our first preschool series on Disney Junior, the gold standard platform for the audience. We believe parents and kids will be excited about these stories filled with themes of friendship, cooperation, solving problems and using your abilities to help others.”

"We're thrilled to be working with Marvel on this new series showcasing the exciting adventures of Spidey and his friends as they model the importance of teamwork and helping others in their community,"
added, Joe D'Ambrosia, senior vice president, Original Programming and General Manager, Disney Junior. "This is the perfect series to introduce preschoolers to the super hero powers of friendship and working together to help others in need."

Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends wasn't the only thing to come out of the Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment panel. A new trailer for Marvel Rising: Battle of the Bands — Marvel HQ's latest animated special — was shared as well.

There better be an episode with Iceman and Firestar

But still, cool idea, surprising it didn’t happen sooner

This sounds conflicting. Various news outlets reported that Sony owns Spiderman TV rights too. If there are Spiderman shows coming out for Disney then Sony doesn't own the TV rights..

@SonOfAGif - Disney owns the TV rights to all Spider-Man animated shows under 44 minutes. The rest is with Sony.

How dare they make a Marvel show aimed at an age demographic other than my own!

@PlusUltra - That only applies to animation
SPE has the exclusive right to utilize the “Spider-Man” character and the other Creative Elements listed in Paragraph 1 above to (a) develop and produce live action or animated theatrical motion pictures (each, a “Picture”) and live-action television series (and also animated television series with episodes longer than 44 minutes)

Silk getting the shaft again. Anyway, I find it curious too have the main team be comprised of 3 people with generally the same power-set, aside from Miles 2 deviations.

Well gotta say that this isnt as bad as when teen titans go and ultimate spiderman came out. Guess we're starting to learn that different demographics is a thing.

@8thDoctor don't know how silk would work for a show aimed at kids considering she's supposed to have uncontrollable sexual urges for spiderman.

Okay, that's adorable. Almost makes me forget the blazing, intense wildfire of nerd rage burning inside of me over the MCU Spidey situation.

Almost.

So this is made basically for comic book nerds to watch with their preschoolers to get them into superheroes. And then have to fork out truck loads of cash on merch every time they go into a shop just to keep the kid from chucking a tantrum.

Dammit. Well played, Disney.

I’m gonna be so broke....
