No J. Jonah Jameson for Spider-Man Reboot?

According to recent reports, it seems Peter Parker won't be growled at by The Daily Bugle's J. Jonah Jameson in the new Spider-Man reboot. Check it Out!

According to IGN, J. Jonah Jameson, editor-in-chief of The Daily Bugle also featured in the previous trilogy, will not be making an appearance in Sony's Marc Webb-directed Spider-Man reboot.

"We found out from very reliable sources that...J. Jonah Jameson won't be in the movie. That's right, Spidey fans. We've confirmed that no one will be growling "Parker!" in this 3D reboot. So much for those rumors about John Slattery or Sam Elliott playing him."

The site makes mention that this scoop doesn't knock off 'The Daily Bugle' appearing in the film, as recent set images contradicts that. Though the character is apart of Spidey's history, portrayed favorably by actor J.K. Simmons in Sam Raimi's trilogy, I sort of don't want them to try and reinvent that spark. If true, what do you think?

Anyhow, Spider-Man continues it's 90-day film shoot, swinging back into theaters July 3, in 3D.

I'm not as upset as I think I should be. But I think we could have one movie without the Daily Bugle. Maybe this means that the leaked synopsis was true since JJ didn't show up in that.

WTF! How can you have the Daily Bugle without J. Jonah Jameson? I'm guessing Parker doesn't have a job in this one?

Simple. Peter is high school, right? Maybe in a sequel he can get the work to Daily Bugle and Jameson shows up.

I feel happy with this news. As much as i love Jameson, i think there is much thing in this movie: Peter-Gwen, Lizard and his (supposed) family, Captain Stacy and police chasing Spider-Man, Van Adder, Uncle May, Ben Parker, Peter Parker's parents.

Better! They mentioned Daily Bugle. To me, for now, it's ok. But in a sequel i'd want to see Jameson!

just cuz theres a van that says The Daily Bugle on it in the film doesnt mean anything, it could just be an easter egg setting it up for the sequel

@soda9
Not true. If they have any newspaper headlines they want to include they'll obviously use the most famous newspaper in marvel, even if Peter doesn't work there just yet. I'm guessing this movie is emphasising Peter as a scientist; with the Lizard, his parents and the Web Shooters all included.

No shit
If Pete's just in high school, JJ won't be in it, because Pete won't be working at the Bugle.
Don't lose your heads, kids...

He MIGHT appear after the 1st 3 movies, since they're aiming for a Saga.

My Spidey reboot prediction:

1st 3 movies: Gwen as love interest, development of Green Goblin, Norman and Harry introduced in 2. In 3, Gwen dies, and Goblin dies.

Next 3 movies: Mary Jane as love interest, Pete gets job at Daily Bugle, JJ introduced...

it's not end of the world obviously there not gonna have the osborns or JJ show up straight away they want to be different from the previous movies. Daily bugles a [frick]ing newspaper so its going to be every where theres no real need for JJ to show up.It would have been nice but it really doesn't matter

How can you have Spider-Man and not have JJ to "hunt" him??

Well I have been trying to be optimistic about this thing, but now it will no doubt be garbage. Spiderman without JJ even ultra pro reboot user Tylerwetrust won't be able to defend that decision.

I don't see the big deal here. Him not being in it doesn't ruin the movie in anyway. There have been plenty good Spider-Man stories where Jameson isn't in it at all. Hell it might mean he has a bigger part in the second movie; like leading to the creation of The Scorpion.

makes sense,if the movie takes place in high school.im guessing we only see the Daily Bugle present when it comes to the vehicles in the set pics, and maybe some newspapers the characters in the movies read.

The character of J. Jonah Jameson is bigger than J.K. Simmons. It would be INSANE not to have him in this movie. I suppose they could skip over the whole thing of Peter being a photographer, and the negative press he gets from The Daily Bugle, but it would be a damn shame taking away such a big part of Spider-Man's history.

Tho I'm not crazy about the suit, the more I look at it the more it grows on me. I'm thinking this movie will be like that too. Probably won't line up opening night like I will for Thor and Cap, but it kinda feels like they are really focusing on his roots - might make for a decent character film too.

I dont know? James Remar would have been cool JJ?! They could have made him more dramatic character this time! Character that has a reason to hate Spidey! Well i wont cry if he isnt in this!

Hope Norman and Harry is in thou!

@Gaston I think that could have played a part. No Triple J leads me to think that Peter won't work for the Bugle in the first flic. I hope that doesn't mean way more origin time.

StuckInPanels - 1/18/2011, 5:34 PM
I'm fine with that. If Betty is in this, they can establish her and the Bugle, thus making the sequel feel more flowing and natural.

first no Harry Osborn, then horrible looking costume(that design looks unfinished and crappy), and now no JJJ(the third j is for junior read the comic "died in your arms tonight" and you'll know what im talking about, all in all its under the "brand new day" banner). this movie is looking shittier and shittier by the day. you cant have spider-man without JJJ at the helm, its utterly rediculous..this movie has EPIC FAIL written all over it

justifiable reason is when he becomes spider-man he's thrown into the public spot light and jameson would still be after spider-man EVEN IN THE ULTIMATES

spiderman620 - 1/18/2011, 5:52 PM
peter doesnt have to be workin at The Bugle but Jameson still needs to be there to vow his hatred of Spider-Man
