Paul Giamatti Would Love to Play the Rhino?

Paul Giamatti reveals that he is "ready and waiting" to play the Rhino when and if, he is ever used in a Spider-Man film.

In this day and age of CBM's drawing huge crowds and making large amounts of money, it's not uncommon to hear Hollywood actors throw their name in the proverbial hat for unannounced and theoretical parts in these films. Sometimes however, these names can belong to people you never expected.

Showbizspy adds actor Paul Giammatti to the list of "where did that come from" as he recently had some interesting things to say about Spider-Man's long time nemesis The Rhino.

"I thought Rhino was the greatest thing when I was a little kid. It was a guy who was basically in this rhinoceros outfit and I always thought, ‘Why don’t they have The Rhino in one of their movies,’ but maybe The Rhino wasn’t that big of a deal for anybody but me.

“If they ever go with The Rhino I would be ready and waiting.”

Hawksblueyes: What do you think? Would Giamatti be a good choice for The Rhino if he ever made an appearance on screen?

I love Paul Giamatti. He's a great actor but I'm afraid he would be seriously miscast as the Rhino. You need a big eastern block dude with muscles on his muscles. Actually Brock Lesner from the UFC comes to mind, not that he's eastern block but he could pass. Or better yet Oleg Taktarov, the Russian from Predators.

omg, that would be frigging EPIC!

Great Actor, but him as Rhino would just be wrong, Topher Grace's Venom wrong.

However seeing Rhino the character in a future Spiderman could be interesting, if he was perhaps used as a side villain/counterpart to a bigger name.

He's a great actor if they ever do doc ock again then he should definitely get a chance at it but rhino NO, you need some one bigger, who will probably need some CG and camera work added in to make him rhino like. But nice to know the dudes a spider-man fan.

I always thought the Fly Brothers from the old Spider-man cartoon would be cool to see in a movie, not necessarily as the main villain but as a pain in the ass distraction while bigger things are going on.

I always thought why cant they oPen a spiderman film with him battlin a lesser villian, u wouldent need to give the villian a backstory and all that... I would love to see the amazing spiderman 2 fighting rhino and shocker in the beginning then have electro, mysterio or kraven as the main villian... That would be sick!

How about Hammerhead instead. He played a great bad guy in Shoot Em' Up. Just a hop, skip and a jump from a flat head gangster.

I could see it. He could be someone, a scientist maybe, who gets to test a prototype suit for the military. That would be the Ultimate Spiderman approach.

casting issues aside (Paul G + Rhino = fail), i always thought in the movie continuum that the sequels lacked a nod the rogues gallery for Spiderman that included classic, if b-level villains like Rhino. or Shocker. or even Mysterio. Guys who don't lend themselves to a real-world storyline, who could be easily adapted without a huge backstory, but could make for one epic battle in the film.

So, imagine opening ASM with a huge dude in a rhino costume, breaking into a bank or whatever, and SM showing up at the scene and having a great, quip filled fight with a frikkin' rhino-man. fight ends, spidey's victorious, rhino goes to jail, we 'get' that in this universe spidey's presence brings nutjobs out of the woodwork (a la final scene in Batman Begins, or the end of the Incredibles)... roll opening credits and get on with the real story.

I mean, it's a CBM. character development be damned, especially 4 movies into the canon. let's have some fun.

If anyone has ever read any Ultimate Spider-man...Giamatti could totally pull of that R.H.I.N.O!

having lizard in the new reboot will probably bring kraven into the mix. then they could also bring in the chameleon and vulture, just to give kraven more animals to track down. i never realized how most of spider-man's villains are named after animals.. wtf.

Get Nathan Jones in the Rhino role..

Paul Giamatti, to me, is one of the Fantastic Four's enemies, the Mole Man. Look at all the characters Paul has played, and tell me he isn't fit for Harvey Eldar.

Nick Frost and Dan Fogler are good alternate choices.

5'8 guy want to play Rhino? Isn't still one week to 1 April ?
Taktarov is only 6'0, the same as Garfield.
Nathan Jones would be ideal for Rhino.
