THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2: Marc Webb And Matt Tolmach Tease The Sinister Six
The Sinister Six won't appear in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but it certainly seems as if that's what director Marc Webb and producer Matt Tolmach are building towards for either part three or four. Hit the jump to hear what both had to say about bringing the villainous team to the big screen!
With The Lizard in jail and the Green Goblin, Electro, Rhino and possibly even The Vulture all set to be introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it seems likely that The Sinister Six can't be too far from becoming a reality in either the third or fourth instalment of the franchise. Talking to Cinema Blend, producer Matt Tolmach said this about the possibility of having Spidey face off against the group of villains at some point in the near future. "It IS wishful thinking on their part, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea. It’s a great idea. We haven’t yet nailed down … there are the Spider-Man movies, and then there are the movies that grow out of this universe. We haven’t defined those yet, but we’re spending a lot of time thinking about it. That’s the honest answer. We’re looking long term. There’s such an incredible wealth of story, thanks to Stan Lee and everybody else, to cull from. There are all of these incredible characters. … We’re seeding a universe." More talk of some sort of Spider-Man Cinematic Universe! Is the Venom spin-off still moving ahead or are Sony thinking of giving some other characters their own movies?
Director Marc Webb wasn't quite so forthcoming in his answers, but he did share his thoughts on building towards something much bigger, hence why so many big name actors have been brought in for the sequel. "You want to build out the possibility of something more. I don’t want to give away too much. I really don’t. I want to preserve The Surprise, which is always under attack. For the right reasons. People are very enthusiastic, and they’re curious, but it’s really difficult to let people get into that theater for the first time and experience it with that sense of awe and curiosity. I think that’s tragic. But … I’m a fan of The Sinister Six. I’ll say that. I think if you pay attention to the second movie, you’ll see hints of what’s to come." So, it now seems like a safe bet that we will see the Sinister Six at some point judging from these comments. What do you guys think? And who do you think should make up the team? Sound off with your thoughts below!
