THR's Heat Vision is reporting that actor Dennis Leary is in talks to join the new Spider-Man film, directed by Marc Webb. Leary is best known for playing a lead role in the television series Rescue Me.



From Heat Vision:

"Denis Leary is negotiations to play the father of Emma Stone in Columbia’s new Spider-Man movie. Stone is playing the love interest of Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) and Leary will play police captain George Stacy, her father who frequently came into contact with the web-slinging superhero."


Filming for the 3D reboot starts very soon, and most of the actors are locked in for their roles. That includes Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors/Lizard, and Martin Sheen and Sally Field are playing Uncle Ben and Aunt May.

Film hits theatres July 3, 2012!

Captain Stacy, he would be perfect for, but sorry I don't see the Osborn thing. Yes he looks like Dafoe, but Dafoe doesn't really look like Norman Osborn.

Gary Sinise would be perfect for Osborn.

Dennis Leary has always been awesome. Even in his 2 minutes of The Sandlot.

They're putting so many good names in this film that I might have to forgive the Andrew Garfield casting.

That'd be amazing (emphasis on amazing) if Leary could play JJ. He could sing this in the movie then:

Rescue Me was a great show other than season 4. Twisted and engaging.
Leary as Capt. Stacy...I always thought of Capt. Stacy as more of an older Jim Gordon. Hope they are careful as most of the casting doesn't look that good on paper if they're going 'Ultimate.'

This movie doesn't sound appealing, but Dennis Leary is a champion of men. He's the only celeb I could ever see myself hanging out with at a bar drinking a few beers and shootin the shit.

I don't think I've ever seen him in anything but he seems like a good choice. James Cromwell was ok in Spider-Man 3 but far too old and just uninteresting...there was really no point him being in that movie! Hopefully that won't be the case with this movie. Great find Wolvie!

I used to really like Leary's stand up until I realized that all of his funniest material was ripped off from Bill Hicks! He is a decent actor though.
