Marc Webb Talks Orci/Kurtzman Split And How That Impacts THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3

In the following video interview, director Marc Webb comments on how the "protected storyline" of The Amazing Spider-Man 3 means that Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman's decision to part ways won't impact the threequel, while also touching on the X-Men: Days of Future Past after-credits scene...

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Chris Cooper, Paul Giamatti, Colm Feore, Sally Field, and Chris Zylka, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set to be released in the UK on 18th April and in the US on May 2nd.

Yeah you wanted to give the competition a leg up. Come on, seriously?
That sneak peek sucked by the way. It was so awkwardly edited.

Yeah Spider-man is BEST when he is by himself, I would hate to see him in the Avengers, or hooking up with the x-men.

I'm not an X-Men guy, and I will see DOFP as I see all cbms but I don't have high hopes. Bring on GotG

Please find another director. The movie was a complete fail. Great visuals. Story was meh. Could done better. More emotional content. You didn't feel for the characters as much as you could have. At least in rami's version there was more father and son tension and guilt.

Ha, have to laugh about his answer to the DOFP question. Yeah, because Sony jumped at the chance to promote their movie's next big competition, contracts had nothing to do with it. By that logic, Fox should preview GOTG in the credits of DOFP. If MJ is to appear in the third film they better cast her very carefully because the chemistry between Garfield and Stacey is going to be very hard to beat.

It kills me to admit this, but Spider-Man is best when he's on his own and if Marvel had the rights to him, he would have undoubtedly been a major part of the Avengers. (I'd be fine with him showing up in the big battle to defend NY, because aliens were smashing up the place, but he had no place on that Helicarrier).

On the other hand, when Sony's Spider-Man is actually alone in his universe, he isn't really being a loner. He has no choice. Spidey is at his best when there are lots of supergroups out there that he interacts with, but never actually joins. (Although maybe he hangs with some Amazing Friends now and again).

I wish Marc Webb was a better director...I really would like to enjoy his movies but Amazing Spider-man 1 was below competent and TASM 2 is getting mixed reviews.

@Meady

Why fire him if you just admitted there was great visuals? He didn't write the film, do you even know what a director is?

@Meady Wow. Just...wow. "More father son tension and guilt"? Hey, it's your opinion, but I don't think you and I saw the same movies.

I didn't like SM2. ASM2 was far better for me.

Basically;
- Spider-man is a loner because Sony wont let him crossover with Avengers
- The X-men thing was to do with promoting another film because Fox probably helped cover their insane marketing costs (What with all the marketing for this film)

@MrSotoMan
Actually the original plan was introducing her early on (Being the Woman Spider-man saves from being hit by a Taxi) and then have her be introduced at the end of the film in a post credit scene by Aunt May in a way of cheering Peter up. At least that seemed to be the plan at one stage as Webb hinted at the 'You just hit the jackpot' scene occurring in this film.

I suppose, given the ending kind of felt rushed anyway I feel they could have had a post credit-scene MJ to tease the third film...

@AlphaAndDecima
I believe Webb was intending it to be exactly like the comics - just it would have occurred after the scene where Aunt May talks to him about moving on. She would have brought up a 'friend of a friend' she invited round to help her move Ben's stuff - thus introducing Peter to MJ before he goes off to fight Rhino.
