Chris Nolan Talks JUSTICE LEAGUE And Shares His Thoughts On Zack Snyder's MAN OF STEEL

Talking to The Playlist to promote the release of The Dark Knight Rises on DVD and Blu-ray, Christopher Nolan certainly didn't deny his possible involvement with Justice League. He did however dodge the question after being quizzed on whether he would be interested in either serving as a producer of the superhero ensemble or taking on Joss Whedon type consultant role. "Well, as I’ve said, and I’ll say definitively again, I am done with the Batman films, the trilogy is completed. It ended in the manner we had envisioned." Regardless, he also didn't completely dismiss the notion of once again working on a superhero movie...at some point in the future. Well, I’m producing Superman now and I’m enjoying time off and taking a break."

Calling the 'John Blake' reveal at the end of The Dark Knight Rises an "appropriate ending for the story we set out to tell," Nolan was quick to point out that Zack Snyder's Man of Steel won't necessarily follow the same real world tone set by The Dark Knight Trilogy. I wouldn’t want people to think we're doing for Superman what we did for Batman," he said before adding, "It's very much Zack’s film and I think people are going to love what he's done. I think it's really remarkable to take on that character. Superman is a completely different character than Batman. So you can't in anyway use the same template. But David Goyer had this, I thought, brilliant way to make Superman relatable and relevant for his audience. Zack has built on that and I think it's incredible what he's putting together. He's got a lot of finishing to do on that. Superman is the biggest comic book character of them all and he needs the biggest possible movie version which is what Zack's doing. It's really something." What do you guys make of Nolan's comments? Be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

"It ended in the manner we had envisioned."

“Radical? Hmm, yes, perhaps for the comic book fans it was,” he said with a pause, “But I think it was appropriate ending for the story we set out to tell.”

His take on Batman. With a focus on the relatability(not realism) of the character.

I'm glad he mentions that the same tone wouldn't work for Supes and isn't being used. Great news there.

I think the ''Grounded an Realistic'' phrase is over-used an makes people think twice about seeing this applied to there favorite character.

They said this about ''Superman an Godzilla'' but i think it was out of context because while this worked for Batman it wouldn't work for Superman or Godzilla.

See Nolan even confirmed it that it will respect the character n wont be the same as Batman.

The same can be said for ''Godzilla'' it might be realistic in the sense of effects of radiation, how the government handles a walking nuclear terror but Godzilla an his monster foes will still be the fantasy elements.

So directors need to start being more specific instead of constantly saying ''Grounded an Realistic'' for every movie it does turn some people off.

Even though I have no problem with Nolan but I wouldn't want him working on JL(if he does work on it). I'm ready for the new MOS trailer...which comes in 10 days.smh

He's right when he says that the style they used for Batman wouldn't work for Superman. Seems like he really gets this.

Nolan understands that you cannot take the same approach to Superman as he did with Batman. Even though we may see both together in a film some day, for solo movies the chemistry is different.

I'm really excited to see this! loved 300 and really liked Watchmen, so it's in good hands. The one gripe I have with his movies is that they're so heavy on CGI backgrounds, it takes me out of the movie at times. Watchmen was a great take on the book, but I always envisioned it dirtier, the film was very clean and slick looking, rather than down to earth and dirty, I pictured a blade runner type of look to it. anyway, can't wait for this, from what we've seen it looks like he's doing more on location shots in this film which will only add to it and will be interesting to see a Synder film that's not 99% green screen

so yes, it is great to hear they were aware that they needed to approach Supes differently. great news!

now i am still DYING to see this 'hook' that goyer came up with. nolan has said from the beginning that it was goyer's idea on how to present the character that prompted him to sign on. what the hell is it?? it can't be anything we've seen so far, right? i feel there is some sort of dynamic that will be revealed and i'm curious as hell for 2 years now as to what that is!

Another thing, we probably won't hear anything official about the JL (or any other DC heroes like WW or The Flash) until after the MOS comes out...and of course when the in-house fighting at WB is over.

Superman is not a super-hero. He is more a religious character: sent to Earth by his father, can perform miracles, lift mountains, and comes back from the dead.
Does that sound familiar?

UltimaRex is still living in denial and posting that ancient Zack ´´Zod is not in this movie`` Snyder quote, even though he gave a totally different answer to the same question TWICE AND both times implied that MOS ties into JL.

Oh, and Rexie:

´´The folks over at The Playlist asked Nolan if Man of Steel fits into the superhero universe that he crafted with his Dark Knight Trilogy, to which he responded:

“Well, somewhat. But I wouldn’t want people to think we’re doing for Superman what we did for Batman.” ``

See. He didn't say yes. Somewhat, meaning, the story of MOS stays untouched but Cavill is in JLA - just like Snyder said.

Oh, Latino Review also said the same thing recently, and they get most scoops right.

So suck it, YOU LOSE!
