Chris Nolan Talks JUSTICE LEAGUE And Shares His Thoughts On Zack Snyder's MAN OF STEEL
Dodging questions about how much of a role he will play in Warner Bros.' Justice League, Christopher Nolan talks in detail about Zack Snyder's take on Man of Steel and once again addresses the somewhat controversial ending of The Dark Knight Rises. Check it out!
Talking to The Playlist to promote the release of The Dark Knight Rises on DVD and Blu-ray, Christopher Nolan certainly didn't deny his possible involvement with Justice League. He did however dodge the question after being quizzed on whether he would be interested in either serving as a producer of the superhero ensemble or taking on Joss Whedon type consultant role. "Well, as I’ve said, and I’ll say definitively again, I am done with the Batman films, the trilogy is completed. It ended in the manner we had envisioned." Regardless, he also didn't completely dismiss the notion of once again working on a superhero movie...at some point in the future. Well, I’m producing Superman now and I’m enjoying time off and taking a break."
Calling the 'John Blake' reveal at the end of The Dark Knight Rises an "appropriate ending for the story we set out to tell," Nolan was quick to point out that Zack Snyder's Man of Steel won't necessarily follow the same real world tone set by The Dark Knight Trilogy. I wouldn’t want people to think we're doing for Superman what we did for Batman," he said before adding, "It's very much Zack’s film and I think people are going to love what he's done. I think it's really remarkable to take on that character. Superman is a completely different character than Batman. So you can't in anyway use the same template. But David Goyer had this, I thought, brilliant way to make Superman relatable and relevant for his audience. Zack has built on that and I think it's incredible what he's putting together. He's got a lot of finishing to do on that. Superman is the biggest comic book character of them all and he needs the biggest possible movie version which is what Zack's doing. It's really something." What do you guys make of Nolan's comments? Be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!
