Joanne Siegel died on Monday at the age of 93. Joanne and Jerry met in Cleveland in the 1930's in her teens. She posted an ad in a news paper looking for a modeling job and was contacted by Joe Shuster, and quickly became the inspiration for Lois Lane.
Ten years after that, Jerry and Joanne were married after his divorce from previous wife, Bella Siegel.

Jerry Siegel died in 1999 and 3 years later both families of the Superman co-creators filed for partial ownership of the Superman character, and in 2008 a ruled that both families do own a large share of Superman, but the battle with Warner Bros. is currently still ongoing.

That's kind of sad. It shouldn't be, since I didn't know the woman, but it is still kind of sad.

Wow only a few comments for the woman who inspired Lois Lane! C'mon people show some love and post more comments! Without her Superman may have never gotten off the ground!

Great article! It's awesome that us comic book nerds also really do care about people, too!!! I didn't know she was such a big part of the Superman mythos, but she obivously served as a great inspiration. I hope she was a believer in Christ Jesus at the time of her death, because if she was, she is definitely in a better place now.

R.I.P. Joanne and thank you for inspiring your husband.

I almost ignored this article. The headline should have been "Joanne Siegel-- the inspiration behind Lois Lane -- dies."

UMMMM yeah....WHY IS THIS NOT ON THE MAIN PAGE... this is FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY REVIEW IMO. AND I wonder what the heirs would do if thy got the rights back.... i bet they would re-sell it to WB with a condition that they receive a profit....otherwise i dont think we will ever see another superman film again.
