KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE Writer Jane Goldman Says Matthew Vaughn Would Like To Direct MAN OF STEEL 2

Mathew Vaughn has been rumored to be in the running to direct Man Of Steel 2 for a while now, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle writer, Jane Goldman, recently gave her perspective on the possibility.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle enjoyed its time to shine at San Diego Comic-Con during their panel in Hall H today, and after the panel many of the cast a crew sat down to chat with the press.

Screen Rant was one of the sites that got to chat with the crew, including writer Jane Goldman. They asked Goldman about the possibility of Kingsman director, Mathew Vaughn, helming Man of Steel 2, which he's been rumored to do for a long time. “I know Matthew’s [Vaughn] a big Superman fan," she explained. "Would I like to… I don’t know. I mean I’m not sure. I think Matthew’s looking at it from a directing point of view. I have no idea what’s happening there.”

The conversation then turned to whether or not she would like to take a crack at penning the script. “I’m not sure. There might already be a script for it. I think so… I’m not certain actually but it’s complicated with a character with that kind of history. Obviously X-Men have an equally complicated [history]… but Superman feels a lot more recent. He’s been brought to life in a new iteration – he means a lot to a lot of people and maybe there are other people with more a connection with Superman… but who knows.”

If Vaughn gets the job, he would most likely want Goldman to come in and touch up the script, if one does indeed exist. The two collaborate frequently, and have been involved in a lot of comic book franchises including X-Men: First Class, Kick Ass and The Kingsman movies.

Man Of Steel 2 currently does not have a release date.

What people don't understand is that Superman is A VERY HARD character to write for (especially in film). Also, no one in hollywood really want to work on the character. Only 2 directors outside or Snyder.

@AreTudaEDub - I don't see what's so hard about it. I think its easy enough if understand the appeal of the character, and that's what's missing. I'd agree with you that not many in hollywood seem to.

@AreTudaEDub - I think the only reason why screenwriters think he's hard to write for is because they try and put their own 'spin' on him instead of utilising existing comic story lines as inspiration. If they made use of the decades of source material I don't think they would find it that hard to come up with a decent Superman movie.

@xfactor - Agreed. Cap is basically Marvel's equivalent to Superman and they've managed to write him extremely well. Just because he's inherently good and not an edgy hero, it doesn't mean he has to be boring. The Winter Soldier and Civil War are probably 2 of the best Marvel movies so far.

Clark was presumed dead... It's too easy to that. Just got lost in the rubble. Once superman is back they can unearth him. Something along those lines.

[frick] yes, make this happen wb. This franchise can be salvaged when given to competent filmmakers. Wonder Woman proved it, I'm sure aquaman will and so will the batman.
