2007 saw the release of Superman: Doomsday, which adapted Dan Jurgen’s iconic The Death of Superman comic, and this year will see the release of another animated film adapting that iconic story. Now, following a recent cast reveal, a brand new sneak peek for The Death of Superman film has been released, which showcases plenty of footage from the upcoming adaptation and features some of the crew discussing the story and characters.

For those already familiar with the comic book story, the sneak peek doesn't reveal anything surprising and showcases what fans expect to see, such as plenty of action between the Man of Steel and Doomsday. There are even some shots of other Justice League members, including Batman and Wonder Woman, getting in on the action.

The upcoming film, like the comics before it, is part of a two-part story with the second half set to be titled Reign of The Supermen

"When a hulking monster emerges from an underground resting place and begins a mindless rampage, the Justice League is quickly called in to stop the colossal force of nature. But it soon becomes apparent that only Superman can stand against the monstrosity that has been nicknamed Doomsday. Battling their way throughout America, the two fight to a standstill as they reach the heart of Metropolis. Going punch for punch, Superman finally ends the threat of Doomsday as he throws one last punch and collapses forever."

Hell with this.

I'm sick of the DC animated films' house style. Homogenizing the look of their films (and forcing an ongoing continuity onto them) is the worst thing Warner Bros. could have done with 'em.

Also, how annoying is it that the DTV animated Superman is stuck wearing the New 52 costume?!

@TheFox - I don't really mind the New 52 setting and the whole continuity thing, but there are a few things about their new line of movies that irk me.
First and foremost are Phil Bourassa's character designs, they just seem so out of proportion. I don't like Jason O'Mara's Batman either.

Also the animation in these movies is very inconsistent. Like I watched Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay and it was pretty great, but the animation in this sneak peek looks so bad.

Is that animation for real? Holy shit it's terrible!

Everything else seems okay though.

I thought this a redo to be more faithful than the first atempt!? This looks worse than the old one.
Stop pushing your Nu52 animated universe. The comics died let this die too.
More annoying this is coming after the Gotham by Gaslight that was actually good.

Wasn't Superman dating Wonder Woman though in the DC animated movie universe this is set in? When did he get with Lois?

Can we please get Blue Beetle (Ted Kord), Guy Gardner and Booster Gold in this just so they can get the same level of ass kicking that was applied to them in the comic

I'll be watching for sure. Just not a fan of wonder woman's and superman's costumes. Why are they still using these designs in their animated movies?

If you're going to kill the New 52 Superman in the Animated Movie Universe, why not do the story from the New 52 comics leading into Rebirth, and have the Post Crisis Superman return in the Reign of Superman story. We have seen Doomsday kill Superman, what 3 times already? Do another story.

Even with their atrocious studio interference, I think the DC Films Cinematic Universe is better than the current DC Universe Animated Movies and the Arrowverse. What the hell, DC Entertainment?

Wasn't Superman in love with Wonder Woman? I hope they don't just brush that under the rug. Did they break up at some point and I missed it?

This may be entertaining and the story could be good but the character designs, outfits, and animation are awful.

I told you, guys. There is nothing of "faithfullness" in this. Another crappy adaptation, now with the New 52 animations style and cronology...

That asian-faced Superman, bleargh:P

I know I posted this in another thread but why hasn't Warner Bros replaced their live action division with the likes of James Tucker Lauren Doherty Sam whatever his name is. It's mind boggling how the answer to their live action woes is sitting right in front of them.
Dedpool
Dedpool - 3/29/2018, 9:20 AM
@Kalel75 - I have been saying this since GL! First Flight was brilliant! The training Day in Space setting worked amazingly, and then the live action movie came out and had to keep him on Earth! They really should've followed the animated flick. Hell even the live action Wonder Woman had beats from the animated flick.
