GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Star Rumored To Play Jor-El In SUPERMAN: LEGACY; Will Brainiac Also Appear?

If a new Superman: Legacy leak is to be believed, then James Gunn may have already found his Jor-El and it's an actor you'll remember from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2! We may also have a Brainiac tease.

With the WGA strike at an end, James Gunn is one step closer to bringing Superman: Legacy to theaters. The filmmaker and DC Studios CEO has been able to continue pre-production work as the movie director but it won't be until the SAG-AFTR strike is over that he can continue building his cast.

In the meantime, the r/DCEULeaks page has shared some insight intel from what they claim is a verified source. While we know many of you see Reddit and immediately call BS, it's worth noting that the page's moderators have shared a lot of reliable intel in the past.

Now, they've allegedly spoken to someone who claims to have seen and personally worked on some of Superman: Legacy's concept art.

According to this leaker, they've seen Jor-El and, "He's drawn as being tall, and I mean REALLY tall. Like, above 7 feet at least. His costume is sort of a mix between armor and fabric, with the armor bits being like a baby blue and the fabric being a crystal-y white. He has a blue House of El crest on his chest which glows, kind of like an LED."

"And here's the fun part. Take this with a grain of salt, as a ton of concept art uses random actors' faces on characters, but the specific art I've seen features Kurt Russell's face on Jor-El."

The actor worked with Gunn on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 where he played Ego, so a cameo role as Jor-El wouldn't remotely surprise us.

Skyler Gisondo's face is said to have been added to Jimmy Olsen concept art, while this leaker also claims to have seen artwork depicting a Brainiac Drone. While that doesn't necessarily mean the villain will be in this movie, the groundwork may well be laid for a future appearance.

As for what that looks like, it's "a generic gray robot with green highlights" that features Brainiac's "signature headpiece." Needless to say, this is all very exciting and hopefully accurate information. Time will tell.

Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.

David Corenswet is playing the Man of Steel, while Rachel Brosnahan has been tapped to star as Lois Lane. other recent casting additions include Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.

Superman: Legacy is set to be released in theaters on July 11. 2025.

Idk if I like him being 7 feet tall or so but Kurt Russell as Jor El…

He could have been a good Johnathan Kent too.

Kurt Russel isn’t a bad pick for the part, but can we please use CGI to de-fat his face a bit? He’s been looking really puffy lately.

Kinda off topic (strike was brought up here):

For all those saying the wga was looking out for the little guy, let's look at this new deal.

Shows now have minimum writers where if it's 6 episodes and under it must include 3 writers and they all need to be writer-producers. Since shows have been moving to a standard 6 episode format, this is basically just gonna be the standard. So really only the big named writers are gonna be able to get work.

There was even a minimum income requirement in the wga just to be able to vote on the deal.

So much for solidarity 🤣

@Origame - This sounds exactly like how affirmative action only benefitted wealthy minorities. Working class minorities were always screwed over by it. This new deal will benefit the connected people in Hollywood and screw over the little guy. Progressivism in action. Champaign socialists are the worst.

@mountainman - I heard people say this was a pr move by Hollywood to basically do mass layoffs without having to have that be all over media.

Now I'm not saying that's definitely how it is, but it is suspicious.

"And son, when some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall super villain grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the Daily Planet wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol’ Jor-El always says at a time like that: “Have ya paid your dues?” “Yessir, the check is in the mail.””

Kurt Russell would have two comic book based space dads on his resume.
