We've seen a few snaps of Arnett on set alongside Megan Fox's April O'Neill, and now a closeup shot of his name-tag reveals that he is indeed playing a canonical character: April's cowardly cameraman Vernon Fenwick..

Fenwick was a cameraman at Channel 6 in both the 1987 cartoon and the Archie Comics series. He was a cowardly, manipulative weasel who often tried to pin crimes on the Turtles and steal April's news stories. it's a safe bet Arnett will be playing a similar version of the character in the Jonathan Liebesman directed movie.

Megan Fox is actually a pretty capable actress ..I just never thought she was a fit for this particular role and still don't..but I admit seeing her in those pics, I've warmed to her a bit:)

I'd prefer this movie not be based on the '80s cartoon and, instead, take its influence from the comics, but as long as they keep the cartoon influence to a minimum I'll be cool. The '90s movies were a sort of amalgamation of the comics and the cartoon, so it's not out of the ordinary. Still, though, I'd rather not see the same things again.

Also, after giving it some thought, April (even in the comics) hasn't really had much of a developed personality. She's the reality counterweight to the crazy things happening around her, but her role doesn't go far past that. I think the movies and the 2003 series were the first times we saw her character have some dimension.

@AxlKomix Exactly... for years theyve bene trying to recreate the cartoon, but the original comic was so much better and in fact would make a better basis for a film, I mean there was Shredder, Ooze, Robots, The Foot Clan, dimension jumping, killing, swearing, Splinter and the Mouser attack.

@nibs Funny voice is all you need to play a nerdy scientist, sure if he was voicing Stockman in the 80's cartoon. Whilst this is a live action movie, you do realize that right. Of course you do since your the genius and I'm the idiot(original comeback by the way). Have fun this idiots got better things to do than have some kinda debate over Will Arnetts ability to play a fictional scientist who tries to terrorize mutated ninja turtles.

I loved M.A.S.K., GIJOE, Transformers, Animaniacs, and all manner of 80s afternoon kids TV. But somehow I completely did not get the appeal of the original TMNT cartoon. I was exactly in its target audience, and all my friends lived and breathed it, but I never considered the show more than mildly amusing or engaging. Rather, it was a show I put on to keep the room from being totally quiet while I did my homework.

The fact that we're on re-make #? and it's being steered by the devil himself Michael Bay makes me wonder sometimes if this is just an elaborate Saturday Night Live fake movie commercial.
