Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. I think basing the legend of Thor more in sci-fi than fantasy is a good idea. They need to desperate Marvel's Thor for Norse Thor. Otherwise people might be looking at Loki as the inhabitor of a strange wooden mask that turns an everyday banker into a crazy, rubber faced superhero!

My sister came from the theater and as a regular movie viewer (not involved with deeper comicbook/videogame/tvmedia themes like everybody in this page) she doesnt like the movie, she say that the things pass very fast, and hate why thor/everyone else didnt feel sorry for the deaths in the movie, and says that the ending is to convoluted.

she didnt like ironman 3 either

both in the other hand my 10 year nephew love it except the ending

I noticed a lot of this during the movie, but I didnt see the reference to the Fault (Cancerverse!) and the Nexus of all Reality. Now please give me a proper Man-Thing defending the Nexus :)

WHy is everyone so mad that he isn't a "god"? Look at the comics, he's the exact same as he is here. He controls lightgning ect. Only difference is they are calling him alien instead of god. Big difference.

It's mainly the principle. He has always been referred to as a god in the comics. The title of the comic is Thor: God of Thunder.

If you look at the recent Thor comics (God Butcher and God Bomb). The story doesn't make sense if Thor isn't a god. In that story an alien prayed to his gods after constantly falling on hard times. His gods didn't answer his prayers and he began to resent them. Eventually, one of his gods was killed an fell to the surface of his planet. The alien was somehow given powers by the god (I don't remember how). The alien then began killing gods throughout the universe.

That story doesn't work if Thor is also an alien. If the gods are just aliens, then why are only specific types of aliens being targeted?

They've been around for many years and they are extremely powerful beings. Aliens or not, it is very easy to assume that they would be revered as gods back in the time of the vikings. So, relax. They can be both if it makes it easier for some of you.

Anyone know if the 9 realms are all in the Milkyway, all across the universe or other dimensions? In some theories about the norse myth it is belived that Milkyway is Yggdrasil (it looks like a trunk of a tree). Is the 9 realam just a few worlds that are connected somehow and the worlds of Thanos and gotg? (Didnt TheOther say that the Tesseract was on a human world; Not THE human world but A human world??)

I'm not 100% sure, but I always assumed that the 9 realms were not part of the same physical space as our universe, but they weren't exactly different dimensions either. I assumed they were just different realms.

I remember seeing picture that showed The Milky Way galaxy and The Andromeda Galaxy in one of my Annihilation hardcovers. I just tried to find it but I can't. The picture pointed out various alien home worlds in the Milky way and it pointed out the Skrull homeworld which is in the Andromeda Galaxy. I don't remember seeing Asgard in the picture.

I always assumed that you HAD to go through some type of portal to get to Asgard or the other realms. I don't think you could just get into a space ship and take a trip to Asgard.

Also, There are other dimensions like The Negative Zone which aren't part of the 9 realms. Which leads me to believe that Asgard isn't just another dimension.

I always considered the 9 realms to be "dimensions within dimensions." In other words, there can be an infinite numbers of parallel dimensions, but within each one of those exists it's own version of the 9 realms. But just like a parallel dimension, you can't travel between them by simply moving throughout space or time. Some sort of portal device, like the bifrost, must be used.

The dark elves, however, appeared to simply fly their spaceship from realm to realm. So I guess since dark elves existed before most other things in the 9 realms, you kind of just have to assume that they too have some sort of portal device on their ships.

Mod of Thunder from the Hype.
If you look at the credits of Thor, Yggdrasil is a NEBULA in space that's shaped like a Tree. Thor basically drew it out in Jane's book and Erik REDREW that on the Chalk board.
In the MCU, they are taking the Nine Realms and making them Physical Worlds.
Asgard, Nidaveller, Alfheim, and Vanaheim at the top of the tree.
Midgard/Earth, and Jotunheim in the Trunk of the tree where the main Branch merge from.
Muspelheim and Hel are in the roots of the tree. Niffleheim is there too I'm not sure in which location of the roots tho

I think the nine realms are simply planets in this universe. Which i'm fine with, as long as they make Hel what it really is. However I don't think there is much of any way to travel between them because they are so far away. Like just millions of lightyears, maybe not even in our galaxy.

I'm curious about Hel and Valhalla. We SAW Frigga's essence seemed to get sucked into some stars above Asgard. I would assume the same would happen to others for Hel and Niffelheim
