Minor spoilers for Thor: Love and Thunder follow.
After first catching up with Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy, we return to New Asgard where the stage performers we met in Thor: Ragnarok are reenacting the events of Taika Waititi's threequel for some tourists.
Thor (Luke Hemsworth), Loki (Matt Damon) and Odin (Sam Neill) are joined by Melissa McCarthy as Hela, as the Allfather's death and the destruction of Mjölnir are revisited in hilariously (well, depending on who you ask) over-the-top fashion.
Now, Neill has taken to Twitter to share a fun behind-the-scenes look at himself and McCarthy in full costume as the unnamed Asgardian actors playing Odin and the evil ruler of the Underworld.
The humor in Love and Thunder was hit and miss, but these guys always seem to raise a few chuckles. It remains to be seen if they return for more theatrical hijinks, but if Waititi does sign on to direct Thor 5, they will almost certainly be back for a scene or two.
Thor: Love and Thunder finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.
Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
Directed by Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit) and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, Thor: Love and Thunder is now playing in theaters.
