Empire also have some words from Jackson and Spielberg..

“With live action you’re going to have actors pretending to be Captain Haddock and Tintin,” says Peter Jackson. “You’d be casting people to look like them. It’s not really going to feel like the Tintin Hergé drew. It’s going to be somewhat different. With CGI we can bring Hergé’s world to life, keep the stylised caricatured faces, keep everything looking like Hergé’s artwork, but make it photo-real.”

Says Stephen Spielberg, “The first part of the film, which is the most mysterious part, certainly owes much to not only film noir but the whole German Brechtian theatre — some of our night scenes and our action scenes are very contrasty. But at the same time the movie is a hell of an adventure.”

Jamie Bell will provide the voice of Tintin, Andy Serkis Captain Haddock and the film also stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as the Thompson twins, and Daniel Craig as Red Rackham. It also features Cary Elwes, Toby Jones, Mackenzie Crook and Daniel Mays.

@teabag

He's not that young, I beleive he's around 16 in the comics.

Also kinda disheartening that they didn't use the actor's likenesses, but they probably didn't do that because there'd really be no reason for mo-cap.

Well, darn. It doesn't look like Herge's drawing at all. It looks like The Polar Express. What a shame. I was hoping to see Herge's linework preserved. More like 2-D animation, but "rounded out" -- sort of like how the Iron Giant was animated in "The Iron Giant." Still, it should be a fun adventure. It'll be nice to see Tintin getting some big-budget attention.

Yeah, I have zero interest in this movie, I didn't like the cartoon and never read the comic. It just seems incredibly boring...

hahaha, yeah I was never a fan. But only because I never liked the look of it, I hear its actually pretty good once you give it a go. I'll watch the movie anyway(maybe!)

I used to watch the cartoon as a kid. My kids enjoy it too. Meh. As long as Jewberg doesn't stick his oar in too much.

Halo can lick my balls, cause Tintin rules!:D... Too bad that Rastapopoulos (Tintin´s archenemy) is not the bad guy in this. Ben Kingsley or Alfred Molina would be perfect for that role.

Tea & Skeletor@ Tintin is a Journalist so i think he is around 18, 19 or 20 years old. 16 could be possible thou cause he looks pretty young in those pictures? He looks older in comics.

Oscars here we come!... Thou i really dont care about oscars, but still.

This is about the weirdest project I can think of. Spielberg and Jackson, do you know what you're doing? I like Tintin (although I know him as Tim, that's what he's called here in Germany), I haven't read all of the comics, but I watched the cartoon with my little sister, and it's great. But I do have real problems imagining what audience Spielberg/Jackson are trying to adress with this movie. Will it be a pure kids movie? And will it have any chance of being financially succesfull, since Tintin just isn't that popular outside of Europe. Whole thing seems crazy, but let's wait and see...

They should release it first in Brussels just out of homage to Hergé. Looks like it will be a pretty good kid flick, though.

Tintin is made for all ages. Its not just kids thing.
So i think Spielberg & Jackson are trying to make a movie for all ages too.

Theres many stories of Tintin, where the bad guys are smuggling drugs (mostly opium) or guns and they are very pitiless.

It looks awesome!
The characterization, story and adventure is already there. Not much development needed. Just some great voice acting and explosive action sequences and we're good to go.

I'm a fan of the comic book since I was a kid and very much looking forward to this.

INSPIRED! I loved the Tintin comics and the fact that they're keeping it like the original artist's animation is awesome. Nice one Spielberg and Jackson. I look forward to the film.

I'm not keen on this style of animation. I really wish Disney owned the rights to this and then they could have passed it on to Studio Ghibli.
