During Bumblebee, we get to spend a little bit of time on Cybertron and see some incredible live-action G1 versions of the Autobots and Decepticons. Unfortunately, there's one character notable by his absence and that's Transformers' lead villain Megatron.
During a recent interview, director Travis Knight revealed that he originally planned to include the iconic big bad in his prequel/spinoff but that idea was scrapped when he realised that a continuity issue meant it simply wouldn't make any sense (that also proves that Bumblebee isn't meant as a reboot).
"I had this whole thing boarded where we’re where we see Megatron and he comes in like Sauron, just blowing sh*t up and laying waste to everything," he said. "However, we then realized in this world, Megatron is currently frozen on Earth, as seen in 2007's Transformers, so that was out."
That's a real shame as it would have been very cool seeing this Megatron design brought to life on the big screen, and fans probably wouldn't have complained about the slight mixup in the timeline because most would rather forget Michael Bay's movies anyway
