Bad Things Are Happening At THE WALKING DEAD'S Prison. Is This Guy To Blame?

Simple logic would suggest that when the status quo at the Prison changes, the most recent element introduced is the catalyst. With Bob Stookey (Larry Gilliard Jr.) being the newest member of Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) group, is he the source of the new danger?

Maybe Bob didn't create the disease currently threatening the Prison but someone drew those Walkers to the fence with dead rats and burned two sick prisoners before they'd actually died. Is Bob the culprit? Executive producer Scott Gimple spoke with THR about that very matter. Said Gimple, "Should we trust anyone in this world? It's hard to trust anybody. You never know where people are coming from. Rick [Andrew Lincoln] is always challenged with, "Should I let people in or not?" Daryl [Norman Reedus] actually is the one who brought this guy in. Early on, you see he's looking for his shot when he comes out and asks for a chance to "earn my keep around here" and to prove himself. No one really knows him, which is hard in this world. You're always skeptical about people because you don't really know people's backgrounds, and you can't look them up."

Shedding some light on Bob's background, Gimple revealed, "[Bob] talks about where he comes from, what he's dealt with before Daryl found him. I will say he was part of another group before he met up with Daryl and [the group at the prison] and before he was solo. I can't say much -- all I can say is he ended up solo."

Naturally, viewers assume Bob is the culprit right off the bat. Is that a fair assumption? "It's fair to expect it. He's new and all these things are happening as he arrives. He's only been there a week and all this stuff is happening, so it's fair to suspect him."

Being a reader of the comic series, I know very well who Bob Stookley is and where his comic book allegiances lie but the showrunners have proven before that they aren't afraid to depart from the source material. Is Bob indeed the source of the prison's woes or a red herring?
