Bad Things Are Happening At THE WALKING DEAD'S Prison. Is This Guy To Blame?

Simple logic would suggest that when the status quo at the Prison changes, the most recent element introduced is the catalyst. With Bob Stookey (Larry Gilliard Jr.) being the newest member of Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) group, is he the source of the new danger?

Bob Stookey The Walking Dead Season 4
Maybe Bob didn't create the disease currently threatening the Prison but someone drew those Walkers to the fence with dead rats and burned two sick prisoners before they'd actually died. Is Bob the culprit? Executive producer Scott Gimple spoke with THR about that very matter. Said Gimple, "Should we trust anyone in this world? It's hard to trust anybody. You never know where people are coming from. Rick [Andrew Lincoln] is always challenged with, "Should I let people in or not?" Daryl [Norman Reedus] actually is the one who brought this guy in. Early on, you see he's looking for his shot when he comes out and asks for a chance to "earn my keep around here" and to prove himself. No one really knows him, which is hard in this world. You're always skeptical about people because you don't really know people's backgrounds, and you can't look them up."

Shedding some light on Bob's background, Gimple revealed, "[Bob] talks about where he comes from, what he's dealt with before Daryl found him. I will say he was part of another group before he met up with Daryl and [the group at the prison] and before he was solo. I can't say much -- all I can say is he ended up solo."

Naturally, viewers assume Bob is the culprit right off the bat. Is that a fair assumption? "It's fair to expect it. He's new and all these things are happening as he arrives. He's only been there a week and all this stuff is happening, so it's fair to suspect him."

Being a reader of the comic series, I know very well who Bob Stookley is and where his comic book allegiances lie but the showrunners have proven before that they aren't afraid to depart from the source material. Is Bob indeed the source of the prison's woes or a red herring?

The hand feeding the walkers was small and white. So at the very least, he isn't feeding the zombies. Dunno about the other things. They aren't all necessarily the same person.

The little girls? Didn't cross my mind. Could be right. I was thinking Rick burned those people.

What about Carl?
In the season premiere he asks Rick why he didn't wake him ip and he replied "Because you stayed up all night reading comic books with a flashlight."
In the beginning of episode 2 the guy feeding the rats was using a flashlight.

Car was next to Rick when he set fire to the pig pen.
Then when the episode ended there was a similar gas container next to the two bodies.

Good catch, Supes. I missed that. I was thinking Rick burned the bodies because when they showed the previews of what's to come in upcoming episodes, we see Chad and Rick fighting. Was thinking at some point, it would be revealed Rick burned the bodies and Chad finds out. They could have been fighting over who leads the group though. Who knows.

It's far too obvious to be him, he's clearly the red herring. It's either Carol, Carl or Sasha that burned the bodies, the doctor that they recently introduced is probably the one feeding and attracting the Walkers.

SPOILER ALERT

carl is feeding the walkers
carol burned the bodies
two things in one episode doesnt mean they are related

carl was still asleep and groggy when rick went to find him, ie he was up all night feeding zombies live rats. he wants his gun back, he knows only an increased threat at the fence will make rick feel like he needs one for protection.

carol is subversive, and clearly shows a lack of empathy when she offs the girls father. there was plenty of drag marks in blood leading out of that cell, which leads me to believe they were killed there or died there and moved before being burned, burned because they were sick, not just the potential of becoming a zombie after they die. carol is the only one robotic enough to have "taken care of it" without drawing alot of attention. besides we still dont know if they died of the sickness and were stabbed in the head to prevent reanimation before being dragged from the cell, it could be quite that simple.

My money is on Sasha killing and burning the 2 sicko's. Trying to protect her brother from being infected cause she knows he won't stay away from his girlfriend.

Me and my friends who watched the first two episodes this weekend are about evenly split between Carl and one of the blonde girls as the zombie feeding person.

D'Angelo has some issues, but this he is not responsible for. It's really weird coming back to this season of TWD after having watched all seasons of The Wire over the last months. I feel a little sorry about it, but Bob and Tyrese will probably forever be D'Angelo and Cutty for me. ^^

Wild guess but I'd say Carl burned the 2 sick people, then because of this Tyreese and Rick get into a fist fight.

MightyZeus - 10/26/2013, 7:34 PM
Yeah i believe he is the culprit. I mean i guess it would be too easy since in the new episodes the character is some what shifty and he is new but i have a theory that he had an alcohol addiction but The Govenor found him and rehabilitated him then made him a spy for The Govenor to spy on Rick's group.

dunno bout the feeding an don't really care. but as for the burning...that WAS a nice touch and a kinda WHODUNNIT stuff that this show (in its current setting) really needs to maintain viewers' interest.

the obvious suspect is CAROL..but, i hope it's someone else. that new guy (who's a doctor is he?) is struggling with his alcohol problems (from what i can tell thru his scene in the store, b'fore the walkers' attack). other than that, it's still too early to speculate anything bout the guy, but i DOUBT he's the killer.
Extricator
Extricator - 10/28/2013, 10:36 AM
Bob is not the killer, otherwise he would have shown no concern for Tyrese, or anyone else for that matter. It's a distraction from whatever is really going on.
