After the third season is over The Walking Dead is finding its self in a similar situation, needing a new showrunner. When the fourth season was announced a couple weeks back it was revealed that current showrunner, Glenn Mazzara, would be departing from the show. Speculation has run wild about why Mazzara is leaving, with some reports suggesting that Robert Kirkman may be involved. Whatever the case may be, AMC's hit TV show is in need of a new showrunner, and it looks like their search is close to over. According to TVLine Scott Gimple is in talks to take over for Mazzara.

As of right now, Gimple is serving as a Supervising Producer on the show. He joined the show at the begging of season two as a producer and was promoted to Supervising Producer at the start of Season three. He will take over as the showrunner when season four kicks off.
