What NEEDS To Happen In The Walking Dead Season 7 Opener

The Season 6 Cliffhanger left many fans outraged. I will discuss what must happen in the opening episode to make the finale worth the wait.

COMIC BOOK AND TV SHOW SPOILERS AHEAD

It’s truly hard to believe that we have all sat and watched 6 full seasons of AMC’s hit show, “The Walking Dead.” Although I’ll be the first to admit that this show is far from perfect and has let me down multiple times, I still find great enjoyment within this pop cult hit and always know I can find at least a decent amount of entrainment every Sunday.

With the Season 7 premiere being only a few days away, I’m taking it upon myself to point out a few things that must or must not happen within the airing of episode 701.

I’ve actually gone above and beyond because I’m even going to provide an easy to read chart at the end of this article that points all of those things out for the people who don’t want to read this long and grammatically incorrect piece.

Alright then

#1: Show us who died within the first 5 minutes of the show.

This may sound like a no-brainer but The Walking Dead has a habit of showing us a pivotal moment within the show and not showing us the repercussions or the end result of it for a long time. I’m assuming you want some examples of this and it’s your lucky day!

Remember the first half of season 4? The Governor survived the end of season 3 and it took more then 5 episodes for them to show us what the hell happened to him. I doubt I was the only one who was thinking, “Screw this pig disease epidemic, Where is that asshole who killed Hershel?

This is an easy one but hey lets put it on here.

Glenn's fake out death is easily the low point of this show but it didn't take a week to see the result of that. No, it took 3. Everybody knew exactly how he survived but we had to wait 3 episodes to see our easily gathered thoughts proven correct.

Now obviously we are going to find out who Negan killed but people have been waiting all year to see that ridiculous “Cliffhangers” end result. If we have to sit through 45 minutes of back-story or Negans origin, you can expect and negative reaction from everyone who tuned in.

#2 Negan’s kill better have been worth the wait.

Now look, if this show makes us wait for months to have Negans kill be somebody like Aaron, guess what? YOU SCREWED UP.

This NEEDS to be big.

The only people we know it’s 100% not is Rick and Coral.
(Which we all already kind of knew)

This kill HAS to be one of the following:

Daryl
Abraham
Michonne
Glenn
Maggie

If it is not one of those five people, most of the audience will feel let down. Although the death of someone like Eugene or Sasha would suck to some people, this needs to be bigger then that. When was the last time we had somebody, who has been around since the early days, meet their end? When was the last time we had a Hershel death? I’ll say it again….
This NEEDS to be big.

#3 Go above the comic.

Everyone knows someone is going to die, but why not take it a step further and surpass the book. Give us two deaths. Have Daryl be Negan’s victim and then have Aaron trip on a tree and snap his neck I don’t know but at least catch us off guard. Do you have any idea how crazy it would be if we have a big send off to one of our characters and 20 minutes later we have another huge death? Nobody would expect it and the reaction this premier may be the best one yet if its handled properly.

Hopefully they have a little bit more in store for us then just Negan’s kill. It doesn’t even have to be another death just something else for our group to deal with on top of Negan.

In summary here is my proposal:

#1 Show us who died within the first 5 minutes
#2 Make Negan’s kill worth the wait
# Surpass the book.

I have a good feeling that if 2 out of my 3 suggestions end up being true, this should be a decent premiere.

What do you guys think?

Let me know down below J

As always thanks for reading and write me some more comments.

Dude, I totally agree with that, I for one, am kind of hoping it's Daryl, I think the show needs a loss like Daryl to keep going on. Great article.

Personally;

- Open with the clip we've seen of Negan taking Rick into his van with Negan boasting about killing Rick's right hand man
- Have Negan cut off Rick's hand, we wouldn't see Rick again until the end of the episode
- Opening titles
- Show us the body of Abraham (Having being killed by Negan)
- Glenn and others throughout the episode are kept away from Rick
- Glenn and the others are put to work and discuss potentially escaping along with thinking Rick is dead
- Negan finally allows Rick back to the group, shattering their thoughts of escape
- Rick is traumatised after losing his hand and Abraham
- Glenn goes nuts seeing what Negan has done to Rick and tries to attack Negan
- Glenn is killed by Negan in a different way to the comics
- Episode ends with a close-up of Rick's as we see his 'its on' face and know that Glenn's death has broken him out of his trauma and is motivating him for revenge

At this stage its pretty certain that Abraham and Glenn are going to die in this episode, so that's the way i would do it. Having Abraham be the first death that occurred at the end of last season, it would make sense as he is the only one Negan would be unlikely to control with fear.

Glenn should die in a way different to the comics but still directly caused by Negan. This time though Negan shouldn't be jokey about it, he shouldn't even care about Glenn.

Just think of a scene where Negan is having a monologue to the group after bringing a severely traumatised Rick back to the group only for Glenn to have a breakdown and try to attack Negan with a dagger they've managed to acquire throughout the episode - only for Negan to just casually shoot Glenn in the head and then continue his monologue.

I don't even watch the show, and yet I feel like if anyone less important than Glenn or Maggie dies, it will be a huge let-down.
