I like how Jemm looks and it is about time we get so named aliens on this show.

She can barely protect the city WITH her powers, no you're taking them away? It's too soon for this type of story.

Don't know much about Jemm, but I hear he's truly outrageous.

I hope we see super girl and Flash in the same show one day... the shows not bad. Got my attention of the other unworthy DC shows A and G... Supergirl has potential. I just hope they get a little more interesting with the season story. Episode to episode is fine but I don't feel the need to catch the next episode to keep up with the show.

@AlternateNo4 I disagree. Tons of people, including myself, are very excited about Jessica Jones, which is a female-centric comic book show.

Some people may never give Supergirl a chance because they are sexist, but most people dislike it because it's way too cheesy. Flash has it's emo moments, but we're not subjected to all the unnecessary ditziness and ridiculous dialog.

Even the action scenes with her fighting aren't even believable. Not to mention they made no attempts to reasonably modernize her costume, which make it even less watchable. It's not as bad as the Wonder Woman costume from the canceled TV pilot, but it's not much better. Don't try to pin this one on sexism. The show is just terrible.

Unconvinced. I kinda still blame sexism. Yeah people are excited for J. Jones, but even though that's female-centric it's not a show about WOMEN. It's a show about one woman (who's unpowered in this detective mode) surrounded by superpowered males. Her primary relationship dynamics in the show will be with a giant that's 75% muscles and 25% testosterone and a male villain who's power is to dominate her and control her actions. Hm.

Supergirl features a superpowered woman, a tough female EIC/CEO (which everyone knows is a total freakout to a lot of insecure men) AND a sister-sister dynamic, and i actually think the drama level during the sister scenes is totally realistic.

I agree the effects are beneath flash, but flying is is a tough nut and the fighting will improve with practice. The dialogue is iffy but nowhere near as bad as people are making out. IMHO.

Your points are valid, and I'm not trying to start a battle, but i think the issue is deeper than we can cover in this context. It's ingrained in society.

Like, switch the roles and it's a completely different situation. Women that enjoy action shows are automatically expected to "be interested" in all the macho posturing, back slapping, shouting, bro talk and sexual comments in male-centric crap like Fast & Furious and Avengers (and probably BvS and JLA too) even though their actual close relationships are with women. But if men see a relatively realistic woman-to-woman dynamic, they call it emo crap and say not "interested.".

Yeah, there are (bad) stereotypical aspects to Supergirl such as the bitchy boss trope, but they're trying. Last week when superman came to save her, there wasn't a single mention of her gender—only her inexperience—as the reason for his assistance.

And again, all of those characters you pointed out are women, yes... but they're in male-dominated shows and they act and speak just like all the male characters. Writing women that are identical to men isn't progressive, it's cowardly. I like the women on Supergirl... they're as tough as the men in tough situations, but in their downtime, they act and talk like women. She's a girl in her 20s, and I know a hell of a lot of those that act just like she does.

So, agree to disagree. I don't think it's a perfect show (if I hear the phrase "my cousin" one more time I'm going to vomit) but I have no issue with the way they write the women.

I dont like supergirl.. I never liked her storyline!

I was hoping the character seen in the pilot was either Parasite or Despero. Now it's obviously Jemm :(
