Game of Thrones returned to our screens tonight, and the board was set for an exhilarating penultimate season of the award-winning fantasy drama series.

Though nothing particularly eventful actually occurred in "Dragonstone"(well, that incredibly satisfying opening scene aside), the episode did a fine job of getting us up to speed with the likes of Cersei, Jon, Dany and The Hound, as they plan their next moves. Oh, and we also got that Ed Sheeran cameo we've been hearing about.

Next week's instalment, "Stormborn", teases that big meeting between Jon and Dany, while also setting up a more romantic alliances between Yara Greyjoy and Ellaria Sand. Plus, it looks like Littlefinger has said or done something to piss off The King in The North. This guy really does spend a lot of time being throttled by Starks.

Check out the promo below, and let us know what you though of the season 7 premiere in the usual place.

@Vigor - the bigger the giant, the easiest it will be for him to crush you.

@Vigor - With fire.

Actually all this talk of dragon glass for everybody is a little ridiculous. We have only seen a handful of actual Others who would need that or Valyrian steel to be killed. The rank and file wights ought to be able to be burned. Flaming arrows shouldn't be that hard to come by.

This is probably the best Game of Thrones premiere.

@solargeknowles - What? How? Nothing happened besides the opening Arya sequence. All we got was each faction claiming who was an enemy to their people and why. Nothing else happened. It was a filler episode and it's the premeire.

The episode did what it needed to do by getting everybody in their season starting places. The foundation was laid. Anyone expecting otherwise was fooling themselves.

Ah, shit. My boy Littlefinger's in trouble.
