It was incredible, I didn't think a montage could so clearly show the necessary background of the book, as well as keep that nostalgic and "watchmen" feeling to it, gret job

I am still dumbstruck over how good the movie was! Me and my best friend went and watched it togather, and we both had bruised triceps from nudging each other with our elbows the whole time!

Bob Dylan's song makes the sequence complete. Wouldnt have been the same without it.

It only made close to 56 million. Thats not too bad considering that it's rated R and that it's close to 3 hours long.

I thought the opening sequence was amazing. it really set the tone of the movie and let the "new" watchers to know what world the Watchmen live in. One of the best parts in the movie :)

Damn i loved this film, just the way the actors caught their characters, i saw nothing wrong with ozzys performance tbh, this was amazing, i loved the way they shot this opening, better on the big screen, you can see all the detail, like with the presidents shooting you can see his skull on the car boot :S Most reviewers said that this was one of the best bits of the film

This opening was fantastic! A great way to show the history of the Minutemen and give background on many of the movie's principal characters, setting the stage for the story to be told. It also really established the "feel" of the movie.

Everyone loves this begining and the song in it, and I love it too, but I liked just before when Comedian was being bitched up to a love song "unforgetable"... what an amazing feel that had. His head gets bashed through a marble slab and you hear "unforgetable...thats what you are" beautiful stuff.

this opening was really awesome (especially for us Watchmen fans). I'm pretty sure anyone who hasn't read Watchmen probably didn't get it. But it was great to see these events that have occured throughout time and with that song by Bob Dylan. And yeah it does have that nostalgic, Watchmen feeling. I LOVE this movie!!!

its so unlike a comicbook movie's opening, and thats why I love it. so good. and this relatively montage actually shows a lot about all the characters and the world they live in, without explanation to bog it down

Seen this twice over the weekend. I caught so much more the second time I saw it. IMAX was sold- completely out all weekend here.
BUMMER !!
Will see it soon in Imax though.
The Best opening sequence ever. Beautifully done.
Mad props to Bowie, Jagger and the Village People for the cameo helping Veidt distinguish his pimp-ness !
Crush, great new avatar.
You should try to find the one of Ozzy with the tear coming from his eye.

MarkCassidy

Dont mean to rub your nose in it Bijous, but i have just returned from a 2nd viewing. And i definately got more out of it this time. Its really an amazing movie..not all of it works..but the stuff that does is just so ..perfect! And Akerman is not as bad as i first thought..i think its her whiny voice i couldnt get over but this time i actually focused on her performance and its really not too bad at all. Trust me guys, if you thought it was ok or half decent see it again, even on dvd because there is so much more going on in it than you get the first time.

Snyder should consider making a Justice League movie. If anyone could pull it off the right way, its def him.

I am not a huge fan of this story, but i respect what he accomplished in making it. He did a fantastic job.

dbzfan, he seems to enjoy and he does it well, so why the hell not?

They could run through quick character origins in a sequence just like this one. That was a 6 minute opening!!! He could easily pull it off.

I was FLOORED at how masterfully the filmmakers used this short opening sequence to establish how the entire American landscape was altered with the emergence of costumed heroes in this reality. F'ing BRILLIANT!
And not just for us fans. I think that any movie goer with half a brain should be able to glean a lot of important info from this opener. Too bad so many movie goers don't have half a brain.
