So far, the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes have not impacted Marvel's big-screen plans, but the studio has announced a major premiere date shuffle for several of its upcoming streaming shows.
While the strikes certainly contributed to the delays, THR notes that Disney had already made a decision to space-out its small-screen content in order "to focus its efforts to make each title an event for fans."
The only show to hold on to its original premiere date is Loki season 2, which is still set to arrive on October 6. The second series to debut this year will be the sophomore run of What If..?, which is now set for "around Christmas day."
Hawkeye spin-off Echo was originally scheduled for November 29, but has now shifted to January 2024. Agatha: Coven of Chaos - which has been retitled Agatha: Darkhold Diaries - has been hit with a lengthy delay, and won't be with us until next October.
X-Men ’97 hadn't been given an official debut date, but was expected to hit the streamer sometime this fall. Now, it'll be early 2024 before we get to see the mutant heroes return for more animated adventures.
Ironheart has been taken off the calendar altogether, while Daredevil: Born Again and Wonder Man are still in limbo after pausing mid-production due to the strikes.
A disappointing development, for sure, but there is a growing perception that Marvel was starting to churn out a few too many of these MCU shows in short order, so the fact that the studio is seems to be taking more of a "quality over quantity" approach (even if they have little choice in the matter) can only yield positive results in the long run.
