Blair Underwood Set To Return For AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3

Another familiar face is set to return to the world of Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. next season. Blair Underwood (The Event) is set to reprise his role as May's ex-husband, Dr. Andrew Garner - no doubt to help Coulson & Skye with The Secret Warriors!

Hot off the heels of the arrival of former Entourage star, Constance Zimmer, Variety have confirmed that Blair Underwood will return to Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. for Season 3. Underwood will reprise his role as 'Dr. Andrew Garner', Agent Melinda May's ex-husband. A former therapist for S.H.I.E.L.D., Andrew turned his back on the agency in the wake of Hydra's uprising. However, he recently consulted for Coulson's team after the emergence of Skye's abilities.

Underwood appeared in four episodes of the Marvel/ABC show last season. So far, there's no word on whether or not he'll be returning in a larger capacity, but it's a safe bet he'll play a key role in the Secret Warriors plotline set to dominate S.H.I.E.L.D.'s third season. Are you happy to see Andrew return? As always, be sure to sound off in the comments below!

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 premieres
Tuesday, September 29th at 9 p.m. on ABC.

I've watched every ep of AOS faithfully... but I'm having trouble getting enthused for Season 3. I think Daredevil raised the bar so high for a Marvel TV show, AOS just seems... dull.

@BlanketMan -- Same here. Netflix's DD series really has upped the game. So I just try to remind myself that AoS must show restraint and work within the confines of what is allowed on broadcast TV.

Although, as I say that, I realize NBC's Hannibal has certainly taken the "unsuitable for TV" rulebook and tossed it screaming out the window...

Oh, also, back on-topic -- I've always liked Blair Underwood as an actor. It's funny that someone posted an image of Morgan Freeman, because like Freeman, Underwood is the kind of natural actor whose every recited line of dialogue sounds genuine and natural, like it's coming from him, and not just something someone wrote for him to say. And while his appearance last season was limited to only a few episodes, he was good in those appearances. If they bring him on as a regular, he'll only make the show that much better from a performance standpoint.

@BlanketMan: You could see the level of violence AoS had at the last few episodes. Some were as great and brutal as Daredevil. But I love both, and equally enthusiastic for both....

@LoudLon ya Hannibal threw out the rule book, and it barely made it this far only to be cancelled. #[frick]nbc

@homodrome -- I'm really hoping Netflix picks Hannibal up, like it did Longmire and a couple other shows. The production design and acting on Hannibal are outstanding. It boggles my mind why NBC would want to cancel it.
