MOON KNIGHT: Steven Grant Loses His Mind In New Spoiler Stills From "Summon The Suit"

Marvel Studios has released a new gallery of stills from yesterday's episode of Moon Knight, while Head Writer Jeremy Slater has elaborated on the unique design of the character's costume in the MCU...

Yesterday's episode of Moon Knight revealed more about Steven Grant and Marc Spector, as well as the villainous Arthur Harrow. We also got to see the title character in action as Moon Knight and Mr. Knight, both of whom can be seen in these awesome new stills.

Highlighting several key moments and characters from "Summon The Suit," they're joined by some interesting new details from Moon Knight's Head Writer Jeremy Slater.

In a lengthy Twitter thread, Slater explained that the decision to make Moon Knight's costume supernatural in nature came to him early on while dreaming up that bathroom fight in the museum. Knowing it wouldn't make sense for Steven to be walking around with a bulky costume beneath his clothing or for Marc to have to retrieve it from somewhere, Slater confirmed that Alex Ross' Universe X Moon Knight was the key inspiration for how the character could be portrayed in the MCU.

"We realized if the suit was conjured into existence like the bandages on a Mummy, it would feel visually distinct from all the Stark/nanotech suits that currently populate the MCU," Slater explained. "We pitched the 'summoning' idea to Kevin Feige using the Universe X costume as a visual aid. He loved it...but wanted us to take it a step further. It was Kevin’s idea to combine the modern Moon Knight look with the Universe X mummy bandages."

Marvel Studios has certainly succeeded in making Moon Knight look visually distinctive, and you can take a closer look at him and more big moments from the second episode below:

Perfect framing.

I'm enjoying this as I do most Disney+ output, but have to admit I wanted to slap the $#%@ out of the Steven Grant persona a few times. I know he felt like he was going crazy but he had enough evidence to prove to himself that everything was true, even the baddie Arthur Harrow explained as much to him. So when everyone's life seemed to be in Jeopardy and Marc was begging him to let go and let him out and he kept refusing, all my sympathies for the character evaporated on the spot, although temporarily I'm sure.

@Mugens - I wish I could hate Steven Grant as little as you but I find myself fast forwarding past his whiny expositions. But Marvel being a big tent some folks are being entertained as shown by two of the comments preceding this one. Oh well.

@Mugens - Same for me and the fact that you want to slap him is, in my opinion, a sign that a character has been wrote very well. I think that he knows more than he shows, and i suspect the show could reveal that Steven has another split personality (like a psycho matrioska doll) because sometimes there are some details here and there that suggest he's more aware than we think. For starters, sand around the bed and the rope. If he knew only that he sleepwalks, he won't do that.

@FrankieDedo - Good points all around.

@JDL - Thus the Big Tent concept. Can't really hate on Disney for that.

Seeing a superhero run across rooftops the way he did. Flowing cape. The acrobatics. All so comicbooky. Love it!

@PC04 - Hoping it becomes more common. It was stylized like a comic.

Seeing the London Bridge not damaged anymore means this show takes place before Far From Home of sometime after No Way Home. But Hawkeye also showed us the MetLife building instead of Avengers Tower so I as a fan am getting Netflix vibes from the lack of MCU architecture whether it's damaged or under construction from prior MCU events. Only the movies seem to remember that a battle happened at a specific location and will show us the aftermath or even a simple detour sign like Homecoming had to remind us.

Personally I'm loving this show (about to watch Ep. 2 again once I get some more "work work" done, but I had a thought while I was not paying attention in my last meeting: so as of now we still don't know if Jake Lockley is going to show up, but given everything else that is going on so far, I doubt that they're going to introduce another personality out of nowhere, especially if there's no reason for in the story. BUT what if they did in a post-credits scene. Granted we don't know where the last episode will leave Steven/Marc, but what if the post-credits scene played out like this:

We see the NYC skyline and downtown Manhattan. I businessman type guy gets into a cab and it takes off. In the rearview mirror we just see the cabbie's eyes, forehead and cap.

Cabbie: (in a rough Brooklyn accent) "Hey, how ya doin?"
Businessman: "Arrrgh, this town can really eat you alive sometimes".
Cabbie: "Tell me about it"
Businessman: "I know, right"
Cabbie: "Nah, go on. Tell me about it"
Businessman: "Well, it all started last week..."

The businessman trails off as the camera pans down to the cabbie's ID on the back of the seat and it's a pic of Oscar with the name "Jake" under it. Cut to black. That could leave it open for a movie appearance or a second season. It would be funny as an extra stinger for it to say on the screen after that "Steven/Marc/Mr. Knight/Moon Knight/? will return".

Anyhow, that's what was playing on the TV in my head ;)

First episode was trippy and I had lots of questions...THIS episode starts to flesh things out and has sooooo many bad ass moments! Damn this series and how they are handling this character is sooooooooo damn great! LOVE THIS, 100 times more than I thought I would. It's elite tier so far for me.

I'm holding off until a few more are released so I can binge, but man this is looking SO GOOD! Had a good feeling about this one, plus Oscar Isaac is fantastic in everything so you can't go wrong here.
