MS. MARVEL Disney+ Series To Get A Full Theatrical Release In Pakistan

In a somewhat surprising, but most welcome development, Ms. Marvel director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has announced that the upcoming Disney+ series will be given a full theatrical release in Pakistan.

To celebrate the MCU's first Pakistani superhero's live-action debut, Ms. Marvel director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has taken to Instagram to announce that Disney will be releasing the entire series exclusively in theaters in Pakistan, since the country still doesn’t have access to the Disney+ streaming service.

According to the filmmaker, Episodes 1 and 2 will debut on June 16, with the remaining instalments released every two weeks.

Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) will make her debut in Ms. Marvel before going on to join fellow cosmically-powered heroes Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) on the big screen in The Marvels next year.

Check out Obaid-Chinoy's post below for more.

"Ms. Marvel is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City," reads the updated synopsis. "An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?"

Ms. Marvel also stars Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha.

That's actually really cool. Hopefully the character becomes popular in the country in which she comes from. I feel like a movie release will help these characters become more known amongst the general audience. As an example with my parents. They like the Marvel movies but don't have nor want Disney+ so heroes like Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel will be confusing for them when they see them in a big screen film. But I also understand that it isn't Disney's responsibility to cater to customers who aren't willing to spend the time, research, and money on the Disney+ model.

@TheWalkingCuban - It won't, but I'm glad to say I live in a time where we are able to consume comic book stuff realised in live action on a consistenly spectacular level. That's not just Marvel stuff, but there's no doubt that Feige has been leading that division.

Good marketing for the country to enjoy the series, but something should be done so that they can also get Disney+ though.

So not only is a piece of media not getting banned from being shown in a country for an insanely stupid reason, it's actually getting an upgrade?

That's a nice change of pace.

@GeneralZod - Find it really curious that Wonder Woman is the most popular in Russia...

@Urubrodi - Not just Russia, but Egypt, Belarus ... and Great Britain. For kicks, how the bad guys stack up globally:

@GeneralZod - Is this real? This is fascinating. Superman is only the most popular in Argentina, Indonesia and Cameroon of all places? They really love Wanda in India and Captain America is more popular in Germany than in America?

I would love to know why all that is.

@GeneralZod - Who is "Daken" and why is he so popular in Germany? I come from Germany and I never even heard of that character.

@Drace24 - I'm going to opine that, culturally, Germans and Canadians are into order, civility and modesty, and that explains Captain America. Wanda for India, I have no explanation.

@GeneralZod - Well, I'm german and Cap happens to be my favorite of the original Avengers, but I always had the impression that most germans rather frown upon America's tendency towards heavy-handed patriotism. We don't even celebrate our own national identity all that much.

Fun fact: In the german version of the Captain America movies, they all were renamed to "The First Avenger". Not even translated into german. Just "The First Avenger", "The Return of the First Avenger" and "The First Avenger: Civil War". We swapped one english title for a different english title, just to avoid the word "America" in the title. And I think that's why.
