This week's episode of Secret Invasion was called "Betrayal," and it more than delivered on its title.
After killing off Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) in the series premiere, Marvel Studios seemingly doubled-down on surprising character deaths towards the end of this third instalment.
Spoilers for episode 3 of Secret Invasion follow.
G'iah (Emilia Clarke) leaked a vital abort code to her father Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), thus averting a potential third World War. But her actions also confirmed Skrull rebel leader Gravik's (Kingsley Ben-Adir) suspicions that she was the traitor in his midst.
Before G'iah could escape via motorcycle, Gravik blocked her path and gunned her down. The double agent reverted to her natural Skrull form after taking a seemingly fatal bullet to the chest... but is she really dead?
We seriously doubt it.
For one, it seems highly unlikely that Clarke would sign on for such a small role, but even if she would, there is some hard evidence that her character survived.
Disney+ recently released a brief promo featuring footage of G'iah that we haven't seen in the show thus far, and one shot, in particular, is very telling.
As you'll see below, it looks like G'iah may have underwent the "Super-Skrull" transformation before leaving the lab. If so, this would allow her to heal from her wounds, just like Gravik did when Talos stabbed him in the hand earlier in the episode.
