THE WITCHER: Ciri Begins Her Training At Kaer Morhen In First Season 2 Clip

Netflix has released the first full clip from the second season of The Witcher, as Ciri (Freya Allen) begins her training at Kaer Morhen under the watchful eye of Geralt and his fellow monster hunters.

Season 2 of The Witcher is set to premiere this coming Friday, and Netflix has now shared the first full clip from the fantasy adventure's sophomore run.

In this new sneak peek, we see Freya Allen's Princess Cirilla attempt to dodge past some heavy-looking pendulum as part of her training at Kaer Morhen. She's knocked to the ground a few times, but Ciri is nothing if not determined!

In the season 1 finale, Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) took Ciri under his protection, and brings her to the Witcher stronghold in an effort to better understand her mysterious abilities. In the books and video games upon which this show is based, Ciri becomes a surrogate daughter (of sorts) to both Geralt and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and it looks like the show is taking things in a similar direction.

Early reviews for season 2 have been very positive (it currently sits at 95% on RT), and the critical consensus seems to be that it is a big improvement over the first batch of episodes.

Cavill, Allen and Chalotra join fellow returning cast members Joey Batey, MyAnna Buring, Tom Canton, Lilly Cooper, Jeremy Crawford, Eamon Farren, Mahesh Jadu, Terence Maynard, Lars Mikkelsen, Mimî M Khayisa, Royce Pierreson, Wilson Mbomio, Anna Shaffer, and Therica Wilson-Read. New recruits include Yasen Atour as Coen, Agnes Born as Vereena, Paul Bullion as Lambert, Basil Eidenbenz as Eskel, Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, Mecia Simson as Francesca, and Kim Bodnia as Vesemir.

In addition, Adjoa Andoh will play Nenneke, Cassie Clare is on board as Phillippa Eilhart, Liz Carr has been cast as Fenn, Graham McTavish will portray Dijkstra, Kevin Doyle will play Ba’lian, Simon Callow is Codringher, and Chris Fulton will take on the role of Rience.

The Witcher was recently renewed for a third season.

Season one was flawed but had a lot of promise and was entertaining. I’m excited to see how they improve season two, especially since they’ll actually be adapting the first book and not a hodgepodge of various prequel story stories
