THE MANDALORIAN: Here's Why We Didn't See Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin Remove His Helmet During Season 3

Pedro Pascal didn't make his usual cameo appearance in The Mandalorian season 3, and we now have news about why Din Djarin was unable to remove his helmet. Unfortunately, it all came down to scheduling issues!

It's no secret that The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal spends little to no time wearing Din Djarin's Beskar armour; instead, Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder are responsible for breathing life into everyone's favourite bounty hunter on set.

Pascal has suited up on a handful of occasions, though, including in the show's season 1 finale when IG-11 took his helmet off. During season 2, Din removed that on two separate occasions, and we went into season 3 expecting to see the hero's face again. Now, we have news on why that didn't happen.

According to The Hot Mic's Jeff Sneider (via SFFGazette.com), "I'm told that Pedro Pascal's [face] not being in 'The Mandalorian' was a scheduling thing. He wasn't seen in 'The Mandalorian' finale. That was simply a matter of scheduling with 'The Last of Us', which is in first position for him. He was on set for a couple of episodes this past season."

So, it seems Pascal did wear the suit at some point but wasn't able to appear on camera due to scheduling.

That makes more sense than the seemingly endless bogus rumours about Pascal clashing with The Mandalorian's producers, anyway. Remember, The Last of Us began shooting in July 2021 and didn't wrap until June 2022.

As for this Star Wars TV series, cameras started rolling in October 2021 before production was completed in March 2022.

We're guessing early plans called for Moff Gideon to remove Din's helmet. Now The Armorer is no longer such a fanatic about true Mandalorians keeping their helmets on, Din probably wouldn't have needed to earn forgiveness and could have freely removed his helmet moving forward. For now, though, he's sticking to the creed.

The Mandalorian is expected to return for a fourth season (you can learn more about that here), and with Din and Grogu now working for the New Republic on an unofficial basis, we're excited to see where this story goes next.

Realistically he could just perform the voice acting for the character and the show could continue. I don't see why he can't do both Last of Us and Mandalorian. If he's providing his voice that can be done in one day.

@SonOfAGif - I mean that’s what he’s doing, that being said I wouldn’t be surprised if he eventually gets tired of Mando.

@SonOfAGif - they had this issue on season 2, he didn't want to get voice actor pay, so I guess too bad for this season lol

If I were him, I'd prioritize the last of us too since Mando has officially abandoned the idea it's his show anymore.

In my opinion Disney/Lucasfilm and Favreau missed a gold opportunity this season.

Kathleen Kennedy and Disney merchandising forced Favreau into bringing back Baby Yoda. That was a HUGE mistake.

1) They could have very easily cut away to scenes of Baby Yoda training with Luke and being mentored by Ahsoka during the season so you would often see Baby Yoda throughout the series just not with Din.

2) The bulk of the season should have been Din on his pilgrimage to get back to Mandalore to retake the oath and bathe in the waters in the Mines of Mandalore.

3) During his pilgrimage he could have been running into pirates who it seems like are reeking havoc with outer rim territories because of the lack of presence of the Empire when in actuality they were hired by the Empire to cause those problems and create a distraction. That makes the outer rim territories think the New Republic is incapable of protecting them, and some may end up longing for the order and control of the Empire.

4) While Din is exploring Mandalore to find the mines he starts to see some strange evidence that the Empire has been there, and may still be.

5) Then during the season, on his quest he teams up with the other Mandalorian faction (Bo Kattan and her group) and the words from Bill Burr in season 2 about him not wearing his helmet, and the respect he gains for her and her group as they fight along side him and help each other get through a few serious scraps starts to cause him to question his beliefs.

6) Then at the end of the season, when things are at their darkest, in the finale they need assistance and an X-Wing shows up. They think...New Republic. We think...Luke again? Oh no.
But it turns out to be Baby Yoda and he has left Luke to rejoin Din and help the Mandalorians this time with a lot more force power since he had been trained for all of that time with Luke.

7) Din wants Baby Yoda to be part of the Mandalorians (his faction) and the armorer will not accept Baby Yoda either because he cannot speak to take the creed, or because he has been trained as a Jedi and Jedi cannot be Mandalorians.
So Din makes the difficult but obvious choice and chooses to walk both paths and join Bo Kattan's group. And at the end of the series he removes his helmet leaving behind his group and staying with Baby Yoda.

Now you have Pedro Pascal able to remove his helmet, play the role and if he is unavailable to shoot they just keep his helmet on for that episode.
He finds it hard to break that habit and prefers the helmet on, but now he is with his own clan of him and Baby Yoda.

Done.

How hard was that to figure out?

@TyrantBossMedia - how hard was it to make up a SLIGHTLY different take that isnt really any better? Clearly not hard at all, well done.

Who cares - he shouldn't have even taken it off until the season 2 finale. That's the only time it really made sense to remove it.

There wasn't really a need to have him remove his helmet anyway. With Bo it made sense as she walks the way of both clans, but Din is clearly still Tribesman

That makes more sense than the seemingly endless bogus rumours …but this site posted these seemingly endless bogus rumors (not rumours) anyhow these articles are becoming more and more pathetic

Boba Fett showing his face far too much in The Book Of Boba Fett was so out of character.

He talked too much as well.

@marvel72 - yep and even Temuera Morrison said they had him taking the helmet off too much and had him do too much talking.

A friend was telling me that Kathleen Kennedy had a big part in the story and scripting for this season as opposed to the last 2 seasons and thinking back on this season I can definitely see that rumor most likely being true. 🤷‍♂️

There was also narratively no excuse for him to remove his helmet, but people like to bitch and moan regardless.

Voice actor Pedro Pascal is quite obviously not into the role any more.

So he fought with Lucasfilm because he didn't want to be credited as a voice actor... then in season 3 he is just a voice actor. lol

@kazuma - Correction. He didn’t want to be _paid_ as a voice actor. Good on him I say.
